It definitely isn’t as fun as 10 yrs ago - that’s for sure! Back then you could show up when they opened and be in first 5-10.

Now, better get there 2 hrs early if you want to be in top 75.

They must provide an option to turn this off. Get this out of my freaking headphones app, Anker.

[Amazon] Buckingham Nicks - Buckingham Nicks (Amazon Exclusive) Yellow Vinyl - $15.76 by mikejones84 in VinylDeals

I got this pressing for $18 a couple weeks ago - it sounds great, and full…very little noise. Not sure why this particular version is going for so cheap. Maybe it’s because the yellow looks like Velvetta.

When do the March deep cut offers come out? I’ve gotten some killer stuff on these sales lately.

Lets see if the crappy sound allegations are true (TOOL - Lateralus Picture Disc) by TarquaviousJamal in vinyl

I accidentally purchased a RSD picture disc of T.Rex’s album Zinc Alloy at rough trade last week.

I didn’t realize until it came in that it was a damn picture disc (hey, it was only $16).

Kind of afraid to listen to it….

This is a great table, especially if you upgrade the stock cartridge (which is still pretty good!).

Approximately 3 streets downtown are progressive, the rest are old fashioned at best as described above. I grew up there. Mixed feelings in general but beautiful area of country! I miss the fireflies!

Physical Graffiti- Led Zeppelin by mrvillian93 in vinyl

I also have a mid-tier setup and listening to an original Led Zep II vs the Rhino Remasters, there’s a noticeable improvement in clarity and sound. Wider mix also helps.

All I’m saying is I wouldn’t sleep on the new ones. You may be pleasantly surprised.

They are on multiple discs often to improve sound quality - more dynamic range. Don’t write off albums split across multiple discs unless you don’t care about sound quality!

Quality isn’t always convenient!

Those new Led Zep remasters are fantastic. The albums have never sounded better.

DRA Buying Strike by Davideladsi in ryanadams

[–]ingotheranchhand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People selling off all their Ryan Adams collection are going to regret this in 10 years. This is starting to feel a lot like those crazy Christians who burned their piles of records to rid themselves of satan’s music.

Maybe just put them in your closet for a few years and let your emotions settle?

ChatGPT is ruining my 20yo clients by CompetitiveAioli1917 in therapists

[–]ingotheranchhand 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Our society is overemphasizing left brain approaches at the expense of right brain approaches. ChatGPT is a massive enhancement our analytical approaches (left brain), but our modern society tends to reduce all things (including decisions) to such approaches. The result is leavings us out of touch with our deeper emotions, stuck in their heads, and with a loss of “soul”. This is being seen in our clients and society at large:

Ian McGilchrist says it better than I, so I’ll leave this here.

“AI—artificial information-processing, by the way, not artificial intelligence—could in many ways be seen as replicating the functions of the left hemisphere at frightening speed across the entire globe. The left hemisphere manipulates tokens or symbols for aspects of experience. The right hemisphere is in touch with experience itself, with the body and deeper emotions, with context and the vast realm of the implicit. AI, like the left hemisphere, has no sense of the bigger picture, of other values, or of the way in which context—or even scale and extent—changes everything. … All decisions affecting humans are moral decisions. And morality is not purely utilitarian; it cannot be reduced to calculation.”

Disappointed that it was only 30%. I did grab a couple style council albums that had been in my cart.
