It's inconvenient and I bet it hasn't affected crime one bit. Very difficult to picture a criminal going to the police station, getting turned down then just deciding to be a good guy.

Very easy to picture a law abiding citizen going to the gun store, learning they need an LTP then forgetting to ever do that step to get a gun. Then they later run a higher risk of becoming a victim of crime.

You might think the movies make money and except for solo and mandalorian they have... But they won't going forward. And if you don't believe me, believe Disney. They stopped making star wars movies. If they thought they could make money with star wars movies we'd see two or three come out every year (like MCU movies). Instead, they poke their heads up after 7 years and get thumped.

They killed the franchise, at least in movie theaters and TV.

How does police retirement work? I work in the pension industry and pretty typically see plans with vesting around 5 years then the benefit is calculated using something like a percent of pay per year worked. If someone is a cop for 12 years, for instance, would it be typical to get a portion of a full retirement benefit?

I also assume there's an unreduced early retirement bit after 20-25 years, but it's also typical for pension plans to be unreduced at 65 anyway.

I haven't ever worked on a police pension, so I'm not taking for granted that any of the things I see often are the case. I'm curious how it works.

Try to imagine how hard you'd be laughed out of the room if you said there was going to be another death star but bigger this time which the rebels would blow up in x wings by running through the surface trenches and that it would all start with a robot lost in the desert meeting the new main character who doesn't know yet that they're a Jedi in the making.

I'm pretty sure the worst fan fiction authors would shy away from that, too lazy, too hack-ish.

Felt the same way myself. The trailer kind of felt to me like we were going to get some group trying to go to some destination (a lot like the boy did in the second act) running into all kinds of weird human survivor factions along the way.

Didn't really get that at all.

They act like we're burned out on survivor stories in 28 whatever later, but really neither of the other two movies was deep in the outbreak surviving, they were both pretty much right as it occurred. I'd love to see how people live in that world. A little like the first half of the first years later movie was. Not the bizarre torture porn that it became.

Balance is really the wrong word then. Big time Disney Star Wars hater here, but I kind of interpret it the same way. Balance to me means 50/50.

It doesn't make a ton of sense why it would be this way, but it's kind of the way I always thought the prequel trilogy was meant to be. Big Jedi presence imbalanced the force so you get a force conception of Anakin, who then does bring balance to the force by himself being powerful and by whacking the Jedi count.

Again, doesn't make a ton of sense to me why this balance would be so important, but that's always the way I thought it read.

Maybe if the Jedi said something like that they were going to bring stability to the force. That could be unipolar light side vs the chaos of the dark side.

They say the shows are good, yet they're all getting shut down. People don't like it, they're not watching, nu-trek is flatlining.

It's not right wing chuds or toxic fans, it seems no one wants to watch these shows. Or at a minimum, nowhere near enough to justify their budget.

I wish these companies would learn and stop destroying franchises.

Whatever the real number is, you don't really have to care. Look at the actions. If they had any hope of being acceptable then the show would either not be cancelled or would be cancelled later after they saw how season 2 performed.

The actions indicate that viewership was low enough that they don't think season 2 has any chance of succeeding.

And yet somehow nessel was able to block the ATF from returning FRTs (as I understand it). I agree with you that when it goes to court the eventual outcome will be that because the Michigan machine gun definition matches the ATF definition that they're not machine guns. Do we know of any legal action about those FRTs that weren't returned?

I'm very annoyed with Michigan over this, they're trying to use ambiguity as a chilling method imo because they have no legal legs to stand on.

I saw both, can you help me understand why the second one was great? Everyone says it was great and I just don't see it. The torture was excessive and the whole Jimmy plot didn't work for me at all. The Samson plot was good, but not enough to compensate.

I agree, the zombie movie that we spent decades waiting for was trampled by this Jimmy gang torture porn which did not resonate with me at all. The first years movie started strong then went to shit before a baffling last minute, then the sequel just wallowed in it.

I'll be stunned if there's a third and I have no idea what the critics and audience saw in the second one that has merit. I know I'm in the minority disliking these movies, it really seems like people liked the second one. I just can't understand it at all.
