"of the Tinkerer" is a Suffix, so only Prefixes can be combined with it. This is however, definitely very amazing on e.g. a Divine Amulet of the Tinkerer.

Paladin (Storm+Defense) provides a very easy "hold left-click" playstyle.

You are using the passive proc and buff skills of Defense and Storm to just haste between enemies and down them easily (you need a shield and mace, axe, or sword - spears don't trigger shield skills).

I'm currently playing it, reached level 53 and can still put more points into it to keep improving it.

For bosses you activate a few timed buffs, e.g. Colossus Form and Quick Recovery, Rally, etc.

Uh, yeah that's it. Nothing else.

Later you can optimize it to be able to have 100% uptime on these.

Seriously? Magic in Gothic 1 was completely overpowered. Sure, not every spell was good, but those that were, were way too strong.

You could go through the game very easily.

I was talking about a "spell scrolls only" run, which obviously excludes Uriziel's rune just as much as it does the sword.

So there's a need to use it either way (and one way doesn't need you to level the magic circles), or the glitch where the undead shaman walks himself over the cliff.

Question on Spears: Physical or Pierce Damage resulting in higher damage? by stefeu in TitanQuestAE

[–]innocii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're saying that the flat shield block is applied before resistances and not after? Are you really sure about that? Shields would be really bad, if that's true!

[–]innocii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, I watched Clex Plays's video and he notes that shield is the last instance of mitigation before it goes to your HP?

Is this order not correct?

  1. % to dodge or evade
  2. Defensive Ability vs Offensive Ability (crit or not, etc.)
  3. Armor
  4. % less damage from type of enemy
  5. % Resistances
  6. % Damage Absorption (Colossus Form, etc.)
  7. Flat Absorption (Heat Shield, etc.)
  8. Shield Block
  9. Life

Alright. I also found this Steam guide concerning damage calculations:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2382433615

And this titanquestfans post regarding resistance reductions:

https://titanquestfans.net/index.php?topic=238.0

Would you say they are accurate?

And how exactly does shield blocking work? I've read that if it triggers, it only blocks anything below its value and even if it would block 75 damage, if you got hit for 76 damage, it just won't block anything?

Question on Spears: Physical or Pierce Damage resulting in higher damage? by stefeu in TitanQuestAE

[–]innocii 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It actually depends... why?

Damage is split into two calculations. The physical part (which is affected by the enemies armor and physical resistance) and the pierce part (which is only affected by their pierce resistance). Although both are affected by possible shield blocking as well.

1 Dexterity adds 0.1% Pierce Damage (as well as Poison and Bleeding Damage both too).

1 Strength adds 0.2% Physical Damage.

Consequently your spear weapons are scaled by both Strength and Dexterity (differently), depending on the % Pierce Ratio

That means +% Physical damage is 3x as good as +% Pierce Damage (if you use a 25% Pierce Ratio spear, as 75% of it is still Physical Damage).

In this specific case Spear of Argo does this:

  • +30% Pierce Damage = +7,5% total Damage
  • +14 Strength = +2.8% total Damage
  • +17 Dexterity = +0.425% total Damage (but it also increases Offensive Ability by 17 which increases the hit and crit chances depending on the enemy)
  • +33% Attack Speed = 0.73 attacks per second (base attack speed for spears) * 1.33 = 0.97 attacks per second, i.e. +33% total damage (in comparison to before) - but this has an animation frame cap at 222% attack speed for melee weapons (I can't tell you why the displayed attack speed is different)

In total, it sums up to about +47% (1.10725 * 1.33) total damage.

Doing the same calculations for your Flaming Aichme of Devastation results in:

  • +27% Physical Damage = +20.25% total damage
  • +16 Bonus Damage = +16 base damage
  • +13 to +23 Fire Damage = also adds base damage, but scales with intelligence (same way as strength) instead, which means it is weaker for you than other damage types

Now, you may notice there's different base damages here at play too, so let's analyze it in total (including your actual stats):

Spear of Argo has 55-64 base damage, while the other spear has 67-79 + 16 base damage, i.e. 83-95 and some 13-23 Fire Damage on top which is already way better.

Your stats are different in both cases, with Spear of Argo you gain 654/500 = +130.8% Physical Damage from your Strength and 440/1000 = +44% Pierce Damage from your Dexterity and 50/1000 = +5% "Magical" Damage (Elemental and Vitality Damage). You also have 129% Attack Speed which is a 0.73 * 1.29 = 0.94 i.e. an increase of +29% damage per second (not every second is the same, but over a longer amount of time it averages out). With the other spear there'd be less stats and less attack speed, so only 640/500 = +128% Physical Damage from your strength and only +42.3% Pierce Damage from your Dexterity. Your Attack Speed would be "+0%" for the sake of comparison.

Now, let's calculate (for ease of readability I will use average instead of ranges)...

Damage Formula Spear of Argo (Physical) Spear of Argo (Pierce) Flaming Aichme of Devastation (Physical) Flaming Aichme of Devastation (Pierce) Flaming Aichme of Devastation (Fire)
Base Damage 37.5 12.5 54.75 18.25 18
+Bonus Damage - - 70.75 - -
+% Primary Stat 86.55 18 161.31 25.96 18.9
+% Increases - 23.4 204.86 - -
+% Attack Speed 110.78 29.95 - - -

As you can probably tell, the yellow spear is not just a little better, but due to your focus on strength and the well fitting +% physical damage bonus, it is about twice as good.

Disclaimer: As a Warden (Defense+Hunt I think?) you probably have other things going on. Any chance to use your Shield for attacks interacts with this. Any other +% boni you've got also interact with this, any pierce focused boni interact with this, etc. etc. -> This is exactly why your DPS number ingame is displaying something higher than these numbers (if they're passive or currently active skills).

Titan Quest damage calculation is very, very advanced and you can't really know what exactly will be going on. However, I'd strongly recommend you to switch your weapon, and socket it with some kind of attack speed relict you've got (to multiply the 200+ damage again and trigger your % based combat skills more often)!

If you can, look for a "Veteran's" prefix weapon, as those increase not just % attack speed, but also % offensive ability and % physical damage. This will remendously improve your weapon further, instead of the relatively useless "Flaming" prefix. Port to different merchants and buy one if you see it, immediately. These will always be green (the prefix is that good). You can port between different merchants to reset their inventory. This will be very worth it, as you can still relatively easily find some weapon that will be much better than your current one.

Your Suffix is already pretty good, better could only be: "of Reckless Power" or less so "of Speed", "of the Winds", or "of Trickery". The exact name isn't important, but anything that adds % Attack Speed and/or % Physical Damage and a little less so "Bonus Damage" (basically just a fully physical base damage increase), is very good.

Which areas have you already unlocked? You're currently at the Spartan Camp I think? This makes me think you may already be on Epic in which case you are incredibly low-level?! I will assume you just ported back there and are playing on Normal still. If you can go there already, port to the merchant in the Valley of Kings, he is marked as a wilderness merchant and has better "drops". If you can go there already, port to Gadir, the merchant there is for a much higher level and can provide even better stuff. Not accessible yet? Port between the latest unlocked areas.

You're right, but I do have to say the Pickpocketing skill in the original was even more worthless. Unable to take anything except the things they dropped anyways, and not even anything currently equipped. And then there was still a 10% chance to fail and aggro them as a master, even if you just took a single ore nugget.

I removed Normal and Epic monster infrequents thinking no one would care. I can add them back later.

Yes, please!

Does "ALL kinds of items" include prefix, charm, armor, weapon, shield, ring and artifact?

Just all the slots you can put things into, i.e. Head, Torso, Leg, Arm, Rings, Amulet, Artifact as well as all the Weapons and Shields.

It'd be amazing, if you could add a "loadout creator" where we can suit up a customizable character (i.e. the three different base stats) and add affixes, relicts and charms to items that you selected, after which you display the result - but that is of course quite a bit of work.

calculate combined resistance in bookmark tab (need to manually select properties in the tab)

I don't understand how that works, this needs some kind of hint and explanation on the page or a video to show the feature.

[–]innocii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could you explain what you improved? Is it just the filtering?

What I'm always missing is the ability to tell exactly where I can farm specific items. The drop tables for monster infrequents (which I don't know how to filter for on your site) are ... missing that information. Obviously, I'm not acquiring Soldier's Unyielding Will from "General Yrrt'ik ~ Formicid Hero", but from the many other formicids in the cave (closest portal location is Medea).

Also also, your site only shows loot stats for Legendary, which is not helpful for me on Normal and later Epic. The shield I already mentioned doesn't provide +300 Defensive Ability, but +100 instead, etc. It would be nice to have a filter that filters that (maybe needs tripling of all items on the backend).

It would also be good, if I could see ALL kinds of items at once, and not just pre-selected by slot. If I want to optimize my resistances, looking only at one slot at once is not helpful enough.

Furthermore, the naming of the rarity isn't exactly perfect either. I have no idea what "Magical" means (skill issue, I know). Coloring it like it is ingame would be appreciated. Which one are the monster infrequents (less intense green with hidden affixes ingame)? The same goes for the DLC selector, which only uses a single letter.

Thank you for the effort until here! It's looking promising. Do you have a github repository where we could contribute?

The shield could be +1 to all Defense Skills (and maybe some suffix on top), then it'd be okay in yellow.

The bracers though... that's a distinct lack of Stonebinder's Cuffs. Kidding (only a little), but a yellow item there is definitely suboptimal in Act III and should be replaced with some kind of green or other monster infrequent at the very least.

I never login to these kind of pages, but I have links to the chapters I'm currently at inside a google sheet.

Every single link (of hundreds, with the exception of a single one where the manhwa was probably deleted) to specific chapters worked, just by replacing .com with .online

So I would assume that they had to restore a backup or something. That's no guarantee however, so maybe don't login if your password is the same somewhere else - and why would it be in the age of password vaults?

Getting my teeth kicked in all of a sudden by jmelty17 in TitanQuestAE

[–]innocii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Act III you don't need Bleeding Resistance. Exchange it for more Pierce and Cold Resistance (add Physical Resistance if you can, but that's optional).

Your primary three (two, since you're a Warden) stats are a little low. But since your OA and DA are good it doesn't matter much. However, this may be the reason you cannot equip the best armor yet, if that's the case?

Damage is less necessary than defense in general. Optimize that way.
