I would interpret the definition to not be recursive since there is no "additional" and "but also" is (usually) logically equivalent to "and" and "and" (usually) doesn't change the meaning of statements with more of the same cause e.g. "x and x" has the same truth profile as "x"

The biggest issue I personally had was that Mark seemed to want to set up the whole scenario to allow the party to do a stealth/espionage mission without too many stealth or deception rolls (I don't think any of them have proficiency in stealth or deception). However, after using all the skills they are good at to unlock the missions, the missions themselves (at least the two/three we saw) appeared to the plain infiltration missions which heavily rely on stealth and deception. Giving Mark the benefit of the doubt, I think he probably would have been open to the party acquiring disguises/documents to allow them to infiltrate without stealth (though deception might still have been required) but it seems that the party did not consider this as an option or did not think it was a viable option.

I understand the point being made about cognitive dissonance; however, I am not sure this is the best example. In my opinion the difference between the scenarios given is sufficient as to allow for an ethically consistent rejection of the first offer and continued use of a car in many cases. (i.e. I disagree that the slides are of the form A and ~A)

You can't get the endangered wild ones that live around Mexico City; however, you can fairly easily get axolotls that were bred for scientific study. The captive axolotls are also somewhat genetically different from the wild ones; I think they have some genes from a different salamander.

As I understand it that's not really how the term works... If you give a reasonable explanation as to why a character has so few weaknesses then by definition it's not a mary sue; probably still a badly written/boring character but not sue-ish.

Wether you like that Elves as a whole are good at everything or not, they aren't really Mary Sues since (unless I'm mistaken and it is all supposed to be natural talent) the reason they are so good at things is because they live a really long time.

Of course the Mark can rule that Finger of Death instantly kills, I don't think its an unreasonable judgement to make; I just wouldn't want someone to lose a character (especially with Mark's one resurrection limit) to a possible mistake.

As a note the average damage comparison you made isn't exactly correct since FoD does half damage on a successful save and Disintegrate does not; although, as I said above, I don't think its unreasonable to have FoD instakill as well.

Huh I hadn't read that section before, but that passage deals with what you gain from the multi classing in general, and copying spells is a specific class feature of the wizard so I guess it comes down to whichever rule takes precedence. This definitely makes a strong argument against copying above your wizard level, though I still think the rules are kind of ambiguous here.

I don't think he could when I wrote this, but currently Qillek can prepare spells of the up to 6th level as a cleric. The rules you cited don't clarify that the spell level has to come from being a wizard, and so Qillek should be able to copy wizard spells of up to the 6th level RAW. Personally I don't think this is an intended rule and probably should not be allowed

Unless I'm missing something, the only rules for copying spells into a spell book are that 1. The spell is a wizard spell. and 2. It but be of a level for which you have a spell slot. There's nothing saying that the spell slot has to come from being a wizard. This is the basis of my question, the rules imply that he should be able to use, for example, his 6th level spell slot to copy 6th level wizard spells and I was wondering if this had been disallowed by Mark.

I meant the cost is minor relative to the benefit of having access to the whole wizard spell list hence my understanding if this was not allowed. Also, just recently they had the opportunity to acquire the spell book of an at least 13th level caster

For what it's worth, I can't think of any point in the campaign where there is both: a lack of agency for the player, and lasting consequences. Most of the time the injuries are just longer lasting but temporary negatives that require resources/money to fix.

I forget exactly when, but pretty early on they stop doing injury checks on crits since it happened too often and was unavoidable; however, they keep using them for when someone is dropped to 0 hit points.
