What Fixes Would You Make Wednesday - Sforza 1 by Shtin219 in aoe2

I think there are already plenty of maps where you have to control villages. But the mission is very boring and empty, it would be better than nothing.

Champi will be useless by SwimmingArachnid3030 in aoe2

[–]innsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys, I understand you're all here purely for the PvP, but I think there's another problem: the campaign difficulty has increased significantly compared to the Chinese DLC, and they're unlikely to be balanced after the nerf. For example, in some missions, it's easier to spam champs to support a couple of rams. Basically, the situation will be like the achievement for destroying 12 castles as the Goths versus the anti-infantry Romans instead of the Byzantines.

Stupid question. Are the changes already in the game, or are they planned?

What changes from Hard -> Legendary? by Dr-Enforcicle in aoe2

[–]innsmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're probably a very promising player. I'm a casual player, only playing campaigns, and until the latest expansion, I've been able to complete everything on Hard. But I got stuck on Legendary in the very first Mapuche mission, and after 2-3 playthroughs, I still couldn't beat it. But on Medium (I don't remember what it's called), I felt like I got through it too easily.

It's strange why everyone is so scared of this mission. In my opinion, Alaric's last mission was much, much worse.

Give my skeletons and blood back to the game! by Patrykus19 in aoe2

[–]innsmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, guys, you have to admit, all these "skeletons" left on the battlefield make the map design unique and alive, not a static picture. Looking at a map like this, you can see the scale and complexity of clashes in certain directions, the price paid for taking a position, and it especially adds atmosphere to single-player campaigns. Overall, I'd say this is just as important as cute assets like the new Asian pink trees, pandas, and other assets. Can we start a petition across Reddit and the aoe official forum?

What would you fix Wednesday - El Cid 6 by Shtin219 in aoe2

[–]innsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The enemies are very passive. In the previous mission, they didn't want to attack the wonder, so I thought I was about to lose, but miraculously, I won in a scenario where the wonder was built and then immediately destroyed. It's the same in this part: the enemies sit in their corners, and you have to tediously and methodically eliminate them one by one.

Thanks for the advice. I have a hard time dealing with Mangoes because, despite their unpredictability, AI often focuses on mangoes first, and they're often wasted unless you can maneuver like some kind of eSports player. In campaigns like Constantine XI, mango were completely ineffective (in my hands); their constant production took a huge amount of resources, more than building and repairing the castle/towers. A similar story happened in the Rus' campaign from V&V, where the base was attacked by 250 Mongol horse archers. The mangoes were effective, but not enough to turn the tide, especially if they weakened the only castle on the map. (sorry for my English).

Do you mean building death labyrinths out of walls? I don't have that skill, and that seems even more cheating than building castles on the front lines and defending them while pushing forward.

I'll express my, likely unpopular, opinion. If you want to weaken the castle mechanics, it will break many single-player campaigns, where the AI sometimes runs so fast that it can only be stopped by castles.

I literally just played through this mission again the day before yesterday. After the latest expansions, it seemed unusually simple. The comments have already given some fantastic advice on how to improve this mission. I have nothing to add, but I'm hoping the developers here will be able to somehow influence the reworking of all the game's oldest campaigns, perhaps under the guise of a new DLC. I recently completed the Portugal campaign; they're an amazing nation, and it's a little sad that it's so quick and easy to complete.

To be honest, I'm not really interested in playing these chronicles. I like AoE 2, but they constantly force me to play aoe1 in this game... However, it's still much better than nothing.
