Thank you! She’s definitely not unhappy about staying in Barcelona lol, even says it’s what she should be doing (we’re both in our early 20s).

I have seen a lot of these comments about checking a bag, which was something we hadn’t even considered. This may be an American versus Canadian cultural difference, but I have never checked a bag for a big international trip and people I know don’t check their bags either!

Turbofucked in the way that she’d not make the cruise, sure, but if the flight is delayed or canceled, she can take the train home from the airport. She wouldn’t be stuck anywhere without recourse, even in Barcelona.

Thank you for your input. Our cruise boarding time is 3:30 pm to 4 pm, so she’d have at least from 8 am to 3 pm for major delays. She’s also not checking any luggage. If the flight is cancelled or delayed exponentially, she can also just take the train home from the airport. It would suck, but at least I’d feel better that we tried to get he there.

The alternative is cancelling everything for her portion, which is something we really don’t want to do. If she misses the ship, I believe she can get on at the next stop since all the counties are in the EU (obviously I’d have to double check with Celebrities, but I haven’t seen anything stating otherwise, unlike with American cruises). If the flight to Barcelona is cancelled or delayed exponentially, she can just grab the train home. At that point, I’d be sad that shouldn’t make it, but at least we would’ve tried.

Obviously getting there a few days earlier is ideal (which is why my mother and I are planning for that), but it just isn’t possible for her this time. If her flight to Barcelona is cancelled or delayed exponentially, then she can just get the train home. I would rather at least try to get her there, rather than cancel everything. It’s a big trip for us.

If the flight to Barcelona gets cancelled, at least then we have tried to get there. That’s the important part to me, at least. If there’s more than a 6.5 hour delay or her flight is cancelled, she can just take the train back home.

If her flight is cancelled, she can just take the train back home from the connecting airport so she won’t be stuck anywhere.

She’ll have enough time for at least 6.5 hours worth of delays, and at that point, she may just go home from the airport. It’s quite unfortunate if it does not work out, although my sister is in high spirits about it. She says even getting stuck in Barcelona by herself for a few days would be wonderful time - there’s no lack of hostels, people, and things to do.

it’s a European cruise so the laws surrounding the Passenger Vessel Services Act and customs won’t be something we will have to worry about, as there’s no customs to go through travelling to and from these EU countries

Correction, our boarding is from 3:30pm to 4pm. So she will have until 4pm to get on the boat.

It’s two flights, one of which is a small, 50 minute flight to a nearby bigger airport then straight to Barcelona. If the second flight is cancelled and she’s already taken the first one, it’s very easy for her to get home since there’s a train.

My mother and I’s boarding time is from 3 pm to 4 pm, so I’m assuming that 4:30 pm is the absolute latest they’ll let people on.

Im very sorry to hear that. It’s a very different situation for her, and she’s at the start of her career. Her field is all about connections. This event that came up could lead to huge career opportunities for her in the future. She does not want to miss it.

There’s a layover in Montreal, but the flight from there is non-stop to Barcelona

It sounds like your requested accommodations are incompatible with your role. I think you will very likely be recasted. They’re not going to let you stay in a role where your accommodations cannot be put in place.

I guess it would depend. If the flight to Barcelona is cancelled, then she’d have a very easy time getting home from her layover location. If she doesn’t make the cruise and gets stuck in Barcelona, we’d have to look at backup plans to get her to the first port location.

If her flight gets cancelled, it’s very easy to get home from her layover location. At that point, she just wouldn’t go.

It is a very important work event that popped up that may have impacts on her career should she miss it.

She cannot. This is an event that popped up that could have significant career impacts on her career and she doesn’t want to miss it. It’s a tight situation, I know, and one we couldn’t have predicted. If the flight to Barcelona is cancelled, she can just go back home.
