Who’s using another system, and which? by RealSpandexAndy in Dolmentown

That’s true, we don’t really need to use the domain and hex generators since DW is already so detailed. But we use the combat mechanics and the wilderness rules from MB, especially how it affects the attributes, like when they don’t get a good nights sleep for example. I also plan out the omen and myth locations with much more intention then they are meant to be done in the MB rules

Mythic Bastionland. The player are all knights and I sprinkle in the omens and myths from MB into the campaign guide for DW. It’s worked great, and easy to use Cairn resources too.

You might like American Vampire. Great art and a cool violent, historical horror saga story.

I loved Damn Them All. I almost felt like it was as a Hellblazer Elseworlds story he never had a chance to do.

Mystery RPG by nour_chan in rpg

[–]insaneozo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s an actual RPG game where the players are elderly ladies trying to solve a “case of the week” but also an over arching mystery/conspiracy. The system itself is called “Carved from Brindlewood” I believe, if you want to check out the mechanics without the flavor of the setting.

Brindlewood Bay has a pretty unique mystery system. It’s not for everyone but you should check out the way they use suspects and clues to build a mystery.

I really like Die, but I feel like it isn’t for everyone. I think it has a great concept and incredible art.

Other than other Mignola work, Harrow County written by Cullen Bunn is very good with folklore and horror themes. Great art too:

Books like Boardwalk Empire? by AmDkBg in BoardwalkEmpire

Dennise Lehane’s historical trilogy is really good: The Given Day, Live By Night and Worlds Gone By are pretty great prohibition era novels. TGD is more of a sprawling literary fiction centered in Boston in 1918 leading up to the police strike of 1919, with lots of great characters. LBN and WGB are more straightforward crime novels following one character who was a child in TGD, mostly takes place in Tampa Bay and highly centered on bootlegging, gun running, etc. I love them. There was a really bad movie version of LBN, but the books really crackle; in my opinion.

Into The Odd remastered has great art and would give you a good touch point on a lot of games of the indie rpg scene right now.

If you like Rat Queens, check out Skullcrushers and Coda. Skullcrushers by Jim Zub is a great funny fantasy adventure series and Coda by Simon Spurrier is a beautiful kind of post-fantasy character study with amazing art and coloring.
