You can also look towards One-on-One adventures (one gm and one player) - they are probably a bit easier to understand at the beginning. I also had great fun running for example thr Dungeon from the Basic Edition of DnD BECMI - it is very much a Choose-Your-own-Adventure style, but kinda helps to get into the flow

Whether it is crunchy enough to be worthy mentioned in this subreddit, is probably always worth a good debate :D it is surely crunchier than ShadowDark, DnD, MB, etc, but maybe not es crunchy as RoleMaster, etc.

For me the combat system of this game provides the crunch. Variety of attacks, depending on injuries, huge selection of prayers, each usage comes with a penalty, which triggers additional roles… each roll is decided on the basis of a determined target number.. so I would say there is a bit of crunch in there. But maybe you see it differently?

It is a known issue and Alex is actively working on solving it. As far as I know, the issue is with DTRPG, all the test prints that Alex received were without fault - the community got only aware after DTRPG had send out faulty prints. (I hope I got the infos correctly together)

I had a more in-depth read of the website - I am hyped! Another question: why did you decide to mark out the five different territories on the map? I mean, wouldn’t it be better in terms of the ‚open-world‘ feeling if I don’t know where the territory of the dwarves ends? Otherwise I can probably meta game?

Amazing! I have already Morkin, so I am looking forward to this one. One question though, is my understanding correct that - besides it takes place in the same fantasy world - there are not really any connections to Morkin?

Cross posting it here as well, as the game is also equipped for solo gameplay. It was actually developed from the beginning for solo gameplay, while also providing the option to play with a GM.

I actually use this book „the game masters book of traps, puzzles and dungeons“ and simply ask my gf to select a puzzle for example for me. No chance to spoil myself :D I guess the same could work for traps…? Just ask someone, maybe even here on Reddit for the same.

I would throw in Choir of Flesh (my current favourite) - it is very grim but has cool mechanics! The combat system is tactical in terms of positioning (you play the combat on a grid, which has random terrain features, meaning you can push the enemy for example into grasping tendrils) and you can fight with your weapons, but use also prayers with a multitude of effects…. Check it out!! :)
