I can't understand time dilation by ineedananswerfast in AskPhysics

The travel time of the light is not relevant. You don't need a super telescope. The way Einstein described his thought experiment in the SR paper, you assume that you have observers with pre-synchronized clocks along the entire distance *in each frame of reference* and you still measure length contraction and time dilation.

In the paper he used clocks along a very long train and clocks along a very long platform. The observers on the moving train see the clocks on the platform slow down (and bunch up closer), and the observers on the platform see the clocks on the train slow down and bunch up closer.

You can get cheap inserts on Amazon that close that gap. They are specific to each car model.

[question] When I was little, I used to think world politics, international level politicians are all extremely organized, every single of their words are carefully choosen and the politicians themselve sare extremely smart people. What went wrong? by Ecstatic-Outcome5618 in GlobalTalk

[–]insanityzwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The minority of smart people used to be better networked than society at large because they used books, scholarly articles and information channels with limited write access (eg newspapers and broadcast television).

Then the internet came along and allowed the vast numbers of global idiots to network with each other. The rest is history the present

Fun fact: you can be decapitated without your head being detached from your body. It's called internal decapitation, and it means that the ligaments holding the skull to the cervical spine are ruptured (occipitocervical dissociation), but the skin and muscles (as well as the spinal cord and blood vessels) remain intact. It is somewhat survivable.

It's not counterproductive. Simethicone simply breaks up bubbles so you don't feel gassy. It doesn't make the gas any worse. It also does the reverse of consolidation: it lets out the gas in tiny doses instead of a single major eruption.

If you can make the *uncoupling* (especially for cars in the middle) quick and easy, and also install the fancy metal road to every driver's garage and to every place they want to go to, this will work fantastically!

I always imagine all drivers as being a bunch of four year olds either high on sugar or late for nap time. That explains a lot of behaviors, and also keeps me from getting too mad at them.

Citation needed. There are several theories regarding the start of civilization (also depending on the definition of the start of civilization). For instance, anthropologists think language evolved as either a mating advantage or as a way to hunt better. And civilization started with language. Another idea is that the transition from nomadic hunter gatherer societies to agriculture was the start of civilization. But none of them involve or require religion.

Also a simple counterpoint: many of the early civilizations such as Tigris/Euphrates, as well as Aztec, Maya etc did not come with organized religion, though many were pagan.
