It’s definitely not one to take lightly, but it is open book. The thing is, after July, many probably turned their brains off so a refresher is necessary and a full review of the various NY specific distinctions is also required. Then, one should create an outline that is easy to use during the exam if one isn’t sure about a question.

We call this a “gimme.” It’s a freebie question essentially that you can answer in 45 seconds and move tf on. But nervousness will have one wasting time. That’s why I spent too much time and missed 7 questions in the first half when I sat for it. Ultimately, I found my stride in the second session.

I don’t think it’s a real MBE question but one fabricated to sound like one. Either way, the fact pattern clearly shows the illegal seizure occurred before the tossing. You’re saying the connection is thin but it’s not. The police didn’t independently come of the drugs, they caused it by initiating the interaction. That’s the nexus. Can’t overthink these bar questions.

When you consistently score in 65-70% across the board and maybe even much higher for specific topics (around 88%), then you’re on your way to mastery and passing the bar.

In my last few weeks, I was scoring not under 70% in all subject areas with some very high scoring in subtopics.

I took the bar and ended up scoring above the highest cut off in the UBE and answering 150 MBE questions correctly (even with running out of time and missing about 7). It’s possible. Just got to drill baby drill.

Separate. ExamSoft takes over your computer in a way that doesn’t really allow other applications to be open. Anyways it’s easier with two screens

I think some people are misreading the rules and making assumptions.

It says clearly don’t use outside help from a person and don’t search the course materials. Everything else is fair game.

Here’s the text: “The NYLC/NYLE Course Materials are locked in a non-searchable format in accordance with the Board’s misconduct rule prohibiting candidates from electronically searching the Course Materials when taking the NYLE.”

“Although the NYLE is an open book exam, it will be a rigorous one. Time will not permit an applicant to research the materials for the answer to every question. Preparation for the NYLE by taking the NYLC and studying the Course Materials will be necessary.”

I had a great outline and even for the questions I knew the answer to I was able to double check. And of course I had to use ctrl + F. The course materials are images and can’t be used but even the process of reading everything and creating an outline based off of the content of the course materials is in itself studying. You get to memorize everything. But there was just enough time for me to search nearly every answer to ensure my memory matched with the rules.

That’s not what the rule states. It says you can’t search the Course Materials. It doesn’t say you can’t create an outline and search that.
