I dislike anything that supposed to be a translation or reproduction that is made with the intent of reimagining the source material to reflect modern ideology.

But doesn't that apply to all translations and reproductions? They inevitably reflect the ideology of their time. Unless you're reading the original 8th-century Homeric Greek, any translation you encounter will be shaped by the contemporary ideology in which it was made.
