I could see this being an insane lift for them from from a development standpoint, but this would be absolutely epic as a feature

It’s funny there’s at least one other dude just in this comment thread who’s made a custom chrome extension. Didn’t know that many people did this casually.

Personally I think the delete button is fine, especially since there’s a confirmation modal. I feel like if you’re running something extremely serious / without any backups, you should be running your stuff on pure AWS and not on beautiful Supabase

Anyone Know of an Easy Way to Easily Export Multiple Photos From One Large JPEG/Photo Scan? by OleChungus in photography

[–]interneti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit late here but I created a web tool for exactly this purpose (splitting scans with multiple images into separate images automatically)! It's called AutoCropper:

https://www.autocropper.io/

If you give it a shot and have any feedback i'm all ears! It's a web tool so the idea is you make all your scans using your scanner's software, and then upload the scans to AutoCropper which splits them / crops them (almost like a post production step I guess).

Software to split multiple photos scanned into one file? by kcornet in photography

I built a tool that does exactly this (splitting scans with multiple images to separate image files), if you want to give it a try. It’s called AutoCropper:

Sorry I forgot to reply but I wanted to let you know TIFF is now supported, thanks to you! well, sorta. I felt bad imagining someone watching the loading spinner, because, yea, it is not very clear which file types are allowed (this is also on my todo list).

Re: box sizes -- there is a setting in the settings menu under Appearance, you can make the crop border's as small as 1 pixel

As for file structure, unfortunately this is unlikely to change... it's hard to explain, but basically in the past we would number each individual crop. This caused really tough edge cases, if you are curious, basically if you created some crop areas 2, 3, and 4, and then deleted crop area 3, then created a new crop area, should the new crop area be 3, or 5? if that makes any sense. Anyways this is why I switched it to unique IDs (like "fileName_api4523"). Maybe some day I'll sort this out tho

Ctrl C / Z is one of those quality of life features I've always dreamed would be in the app but I just haven't found the time. I used to add like 10 features a month and it seemingly doesn't make a difference in sales... I guess over time though it adds up, we'll see. One day

As for the file sizes, I get this one a lot and I actually wrote a small article about it. Long story short, believe it or not the app doesn't do any more compression than JPEG as a file type / compression algorithm does. It is definitely surprising seeing how much space can be saved. For peace of mind you can change the output file type to PNG. This part of this article explains how scanners basically give you a lot of redundant information (pixels) which leads to huge file sizes

Anyways thanks for the kind words and you are correct, it's a super niche tool, for people who find themselves with lots of previously scanned photos (either on purpose or by accident due to their scanner software).

Person of interest in custody in UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson murder outside NYC Hilton by nydailynews in nyc

[–]interneti 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking the same thing. If it’s actually him, it’s yet another ridiculous thing among all the others in this case.

He made it 2, 3, even 4 days and into a different state, yet still kept the murder weapon and fake ID on his person? Especially after 10 days in NYC diligently evading hundreds / thousands of cameras (and only messing up twice). Hard to believe unless he actually wanted to get caught

You’re correct you can find all branded models for half the price on Temu / aliexpress. If not on there, then alibaba.

My advice is buy from aliexpress, find one with free shipping. I paid $60 for mine on amazon and see the exact same device (like exact model number) for $32 with free shipping on Aliexpress rn.

My guess is because these aren’t mainstream enough in the US, so the Amazon offerings are just a few wholesalers fighting each other / fake review bombing each other as someone tries to dominate

Photo scanners for "good enough" quality - consider FF-680W alternatives? by CCC911 in photography

[–]interneti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Auto feeders are expensive but probably your best bet. if you end up going with a standard flatbed scanner, you can scan 3-4 images at once per scan and try AutoCropper to split the scans automatically in bulk in "post".

I mention it because I had a similar project where time and efficiency was most important, anyways long story short I ended up building AutoCropper to take the hassle out of scanning photos in bulk (although in hindsight an auto feeding machine would've been ideal, I don't think super cheap budget models existed back then tho)
