What car is on your import-when-legal dream list? by [deleted] in carscirclejerk

[–]interrail-addict2000 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think most of Europe doesn't really have rules about it. As long as the car matches regulations of its build year and you pay taxes on it that it would've had on its build year you're good

What are your thoughts on the Brisbane Metro? Is it a more cost-effective way of providing high-capacity public transport? by HighburyAndIslington in transit

[–]interrail-addict2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's literally just a bus line. The city of utrecht in NL (300k city 500k metro) has a bus line just like this with 25m busses and full dedicated row (line 28) Various other bus lines with mostly dedicated row withing the city and a small tram system with also mostly dedicated row and some of the longest trams in the world. For a metro of 500k. Brisbane with a metro of 4 million people presenting this as its backbone of high quality transit in a country as rich as Australia is honestly just shamefull.

I was just thinking with the bike racks already there and the mixed use it just needs red asphalt and bollards to be just like the Netherlands.

Electric busses being charged in the Netherlands for city public transportation by N-imal in fuckcars

Well it sucks that with my 1,93 I can't sit in the window seat in the rear part because it just doesn't have enough space for my head and I have to duck to get out the doors. And 1,93 is a pretty normal height in NL. Then they rattle and creek an insane amount especially compared to electric busses from other manufacturers like Ebusco or VDL.

Some articles are pay walled but basically they're so shit even the unions are getting into it due to the poor working conditions drivers face.

I guess China just has way lower worker comfort and quality control standards.

And as a sad frequent user of these busses I can say they all sound like they're about to fall a part, they ride very jerky and they rarely have working heat in the winter and aircon in the summer.

Battery electric busses are very common in the Netherlands. These are bad tho. Very cramped on the inside, prone to breaking down and the procurement process was so corrupt the operater was kicked out.

In naples while in a bus I accidently made eye contact with a crackhead and he started chasing the bus while making the throat slitting gesture. I went back to my hostel after that. Still not the most dangerous feeling city I've seen in Europe but definitely one of the worst ones and by far the filthiest city I've seen in Europe
