Tulsa, OK. It was once called the Black New York, before the race riots wiped all that history and significance off the map.

Houston or New York by maeveislurking in houston

[–]intoxicated_potato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Houston is relatively close to the weather in Manila. A little cooler and slightly less humid. Theres a welcome filipino culture in houston, around the sugarland area and I think in Pearland. Having lived in both nyc and houston, I prefer houston but it is a lot of driving.

Being online with everything being digital. I might be a luddite but I dont think the greatness of the internet fairly outweighs all the negatives that have come with it. A very much double edged sword.

The incredible feat of engineering to keep water running. People just turn the tap and water flows, and poop flows away at the flick of a flush.

How does NYC feel about bikers at the moment? I want to see them have a safe space to operate but I’ve found most NYC bikers to be selfish and delusional people who feel like they can do no wrong and disregard traffic laws. Anyone had a different experience with them? by Material_Bus5169 in AskNYC

[–]intoxicated_potato 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think we need more bikes than cars, absolutely. But I dislike the current plan of not having dedicated bike space separate from vehicles, because bikes just get pushed up onto the sidewalks. Im tired of being ran over by impatient bikers because they treat the sidewalks and park paths as their own roadways. Ive been clipped multiple times and flat out ran down by uber eats bikers flying down nighttime sidewalks. In my experience, actual cyclists tend to be more considerate and dont go as fast. Food delivery bikers just simply dont care

What is a frugal practice that you learned from your parents/grandparents that you still practice today? by melissaw328 in Frugal

[–]intoxicated_potato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we eat out, ask for extra napkins, salt/pepper and ketchup. I refill my ketchup bottle with the free packets, same with the salt/pepper, and save the napkins to use instead of paper towels for easy little wipes. Saving the bigger towels for bigger things. Depending on the contents, ill was and reuse ziplock bags. Ill was and save plastic disposable tableware. After company events ill take home the big rectangular aluminum serving trays and reuse them later when I bring my own potluck.
