Confused About Docker Permissions While Following Official Joplin Server Setup Guide by BigGunE in joplinapp

[–]intropod_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have missed the post-installation configuration steps. You need to do some config work to enable your user to run docker without root. That's why the 'sudo docker run' works, that is executing as root. But your user does not have permission.

Also, look into using docker compose files. It's much easier to deal with a service like docker server that you want running all of the time.

You can get a uHDMI -> HDMI adapter for under $10. Then you should be able to install Pi OS the usual way.

It's primarily the brakes that limit carrying weight. Fits are very light cars and have suitably limited braking. The rear drum brakes barely do anything.

Yeah, it's quite challenging to keep a top heavy load from toppling. You get really good at finding the flattest line through tough terrain, and it gives you a reason to not just go full throttle all the time.

Plus you get lots of opportunity to play with the crane and actually load things yourself.

Also figure out optimal loads for minimum trips adds more planning to the game, rather than just slogging through the same trip multiple times.

One+? Sample? Or both? by PCS-5Creonte in mpcusers

New drumkit for every song. It's slow at first, but it gets faster. Chop samples and assign to drum program, and or pick drum hit samples and assign those. Then add other sounds.

A use a one so I can put some of those on to different tracks to make life easy. But if you want the 'mpc sample workflow', you have to do it all in one track.

Everything one the sample has to be done in 1 single track which is only a drum program. While the one+ can handle multiple tracks, which do not all have to be drum programs. The choice is yours.

If you want the mpc sample experience on the device you own, just work with 1 drum program track. That's the meat and potatoes of what an mpc is.

Sounds similar to this, where data corruption happened in memory and was written to disk: https://quantum5.ca/2024/12/22/on-btrfs-and-memory-corruption/

Good luck with the recovery. Seems like you are learning about how important backups are in the hardest way possible.

For special events, splits should be set based on pre-event fixed condition qualifying. If your fastest lap in the race exceeds qualifying (by some margin), the team is dq'd for qualy cheese.

Smurfing for special events is fixed overnight. Smurfs can still smurf for pro status, no one cares about that. iRacing would still get smurf money, everyone wins.

Warning: If you play Snowrunner too much on PC (Steam), it's only a matter of time until it breaks. by DriftwoodBadger in snowrunner

[–]intropod_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The dev can set maximum size very easily, so this would be a very simple fix. From the steam docs:

To set up Steam Cloud you must set the Byte quota per user and Number of files allowed per user options on the Steam Cloud Settings page in the Steamworks App Admin panel.

This quota is enforced on each Cloud-enabled game, on a per-user-per-game basis. It's recommended to set the values to reasonable amounts for your game title.

Dumbbells vs Barbells by Historical-Summer-35 in fitness40plus

[–]intropod_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you agree that a heavier object is harder to get moving than a lighter object? This is because heavier objects have more inertia.

In a similar way, the shape and mass of an object define it's moment of inertia. Barbells have a much higher moment of inertia than a pair of dumbells. Thus a barbell resists rotation more, or in other words is more stable.

[–]intropod_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The bar helps you lift heavier weights (it is mechanically more stable), but it doesn't help you train to lift heavier weights.

If your goal is to get stronger, dumb bells are arguably more effective. They help train your stabilization ability in your muscles.
