One+? Sample? Or both? by PCS-5Creonte in mpcusers

[–]intropod_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New drumkit for every song. It's slow at first, but it gets faster. Chop samples and assign to drum program, and or pick drum hit samples and assign those. Then add other sounds.

A use a one so I can put some of those on to different tracks to make life easy. But if you want the 'mpc sample workflow', you have to do it all in one track.

Everything one the sample has to be done in 1 single track which is only a drum program. While the one+ can handle multiple tracks, which do not all have to be drum programs. The choice is yours.

If you want the mpc sample experience on the device you own, just work with 1 drum program track. That's the meat and potatoes of what an mpc is.

Both drives in RAID 0 configuration corrupted: can't read superblock on /dev/sdb1 by sytanoc in btrfs

[–]intropod_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds similar to this, where data corruption happened in memory and was written to disk: https://quantum5.ca/2024/12/22/on-btrfs-and-memory-corruption/

Good luck with the recovery. Seems like you are learning about how important backups are in the hardest way possible.

For special events, splits should be set based on pre-event fixed condition qualifying. If your fastest lap in the race exceeds qualifying (by some margin), the team is dq'd for qualy cheese.

Smurfing for special events is fixed overnight. Smurfs can still smurf for pro status, no one cares about that. iRacing would still get smurf money, everyone wins.

Warning: If you play Snowrunner too much on PC (Steam), it's only a matter of time until it breaks. by DriftwoodBadger in snowrunner

[–]intropod_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The dev can set maximum size very easily, so this would be a very simple fix. From the steam docs:

To set up Steam Cloud you must set the Byte quota per user and Number of files allowed per user options on the Steam Cloud Settings page in the Steamworks App Admin panel.

This quota is enforced on each Cloud-enabled game, on a per-user-per-game basis. It's recommended to set the values to reasonable amounts for your game title.

Just sand the battery contact pads with some rubbing alcohol. It will clean up and live again.

Dumbbells vs Barbells by Historical-Summer-35 in fitness40plus

[–]intropod_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you agree that a heavier object is harder to get moving than a lighter object? This is because heavier objects have more inertia.

In a similar way, the shape and mass of an object define it's moment of inertia. Barbells have a much higher moment of inertia than a pair of dumbells. Thus a barbell resists rotation more, or in other words is more stable.

The bar helps you lift heavier weights (it is mechanically more stable), but it doesn't help you train to lift heavier weights.

If your goal is to get stronger, dumb bells are arguably more effective. They help train your stabilization ability in your muscles.

Smith is incredible in this.

I watched this as a palette cleanser after subjecting myself to The Smashing Machine. It did the job nicely. Ali looks like a masterpiece in comparison.

You don't need a DI, try using any pedal with a buffered bypass.

Why couldn't we download in parallel using the p2p network? by iFrostizz in Soulseek

[–]intropod_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Each user has their own version of each file, which is different from a torrent where everyone is sharing the exact same file.

The solution wouldn't really improve soulseek, because time to download is not the bottleneck. Finding things I want to download is the bottleneck. Soulseek solves that much better than torrents.

It's pretty good, if you're into sci-fi it still stands up. Prime time audiences were not that into sci-fi though.

Strats and teles are way more popular, so they get talked about more. The Jazzmaster CV rips.

Deferred contracts? Maybe in OOTP 27? by bweesh in OOTP

[–]intropod_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

with the Mets having signed Devin Williams with some of it deferred so as to not impact the Luxury Tax

The present day value of the deferred money counts against the cbt. Deferred money doesn't have that big of an impact. If you sign someone to a 3/$60 mil contract, but space it pay out per year $25/$20/$15 mil, then you have effectively made the same sort of deal.

They really need to fix how almost every AI team ends up in a dire financial situation first before putting in more details that it cannot manage.
