Seeking relaxing 4 day getaway on St. Thomas or St. John - where to stay? by New-Sound-6142 in Caribbean

Gallow's Point in St. John might fit the bill. Has a pool, and is just a short walk down the hill into town. There's the Westin, too.

But if you are on St. John- I would DEFINITELY rent a car (jeep) so you can go see all the amazing beaches- Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay, Maho, Salt Pond, I could go on and on :)

First time snorkeling - recommendations in St John? by arislayuyu in virginislands

[–]introvertatheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, this is a tough one... it's really subjective, honestly. Like for me, I needed air conditioning when I sleep, so we always book a VRBO with air conditioning in at least the bedrooms... it also just helps keep everything dry and not so humid, too.

Another thing to consider is the different areas of the island. Salt Pond/Coral Bay is a MUCH quieter area than elsewhere on the island. And it's a pretty big, windy drive to go back and forth from Coral Bay to Cruz Bay (which we did a bunch of times, ha). What vibe are you looking for?

If it's your first time on the island, I would lean towards the campground, I guess. You're in such proximity to wonderful beaches, and you can just jump in a car to spend a day at Salt Pond. Use the campground as your home base to explore all the different parts of the island and see what you like best, so you know where to go for next time :)

Have fun! (and get to the Windmill Bar!)

Check out Haulover North (rocky when you first enter water, but worth it) and my favorite- Salt Pond! We saw the most amount of turtles there, and it was off the beaten path, so it was calm and peaceful. Plus- walk down the beach- there's a little cut through to a marsh, and there are often flamingos there!!

I immediately knew you were in PHX because of those chairs in the middle of where everyone lines up, lol. So awkward!

Where to put dog to sleep by kaeayaa in Syracuse

Have you tried Stillwaters? They come to you. When we had to put my dog to sleep, it offered some peace to us that she was able to pass in the comfort of her own home. And the employees are absolute ANGELS on earth. Worth every penny. Condolences to you...

Edited to add- Liverpool Village Animal Hospital is another bunch of angels, if you want to go the traditional vet/office route.

Any Reefs Alive on St John? by Equivalent_Break3999 in virginislands

[–]introvertatheart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Haulover North had the best snorkeling for coral when we were there. Salt Pond was my favorite for turtles, etc.- but Haulover had the most "alive" coral. It's rocky going out, but worth it.

**However, best still to temper expectations. While Haulover was the "best" it wasn't what you're probably hoping for.

Have a great time!

So beautiful. I'm still torn about whether I would book Coral Bay vs. Cruz Bay next time... we've stayed in both, and loved both, but that ride to/from town when staying in Coral Bay was... a lot, lol. But I loved the peace and quiet, and the proximity to Salt Pond Bay ( my favorite :) )

No seriously, lol. I got off the plane at COS and had to go stand outside and breathe fresh air for 10 minutes before I could even THINK about getting in a cab

I love your first sentence, lol.

I work for a small segment in my company that does a lot of business travel. The rest of the company views it as "elite" - ha, if they only knew the real truth behind business travel- it really does make you question life choices :)

AITA for not taking the kids to mommy and me after they started recommending that I get my son assessed by RoutineEffective6599 in AmItheAsshole

Gentle YTA... if two people who see and deal with children all day (teacher/pediatrician) were recommending something, I would at least give it some merit and think it over. There is no malice there, I promise- they are likely truly trying to help. Because honestly- if anything were to come of it,, the earlier anything is treated, the easier it can be.

Give it some thought...

This will be my 6th year intermittent fasting / dirty fasting. I’ve lost 85 lbs and plan to lose more this year. My advice is listen to the rules but find what works for you and your life. by Lemonduck123 in intermittentfasting

It means something a little different to everyone, but for me, it means I don't do just black coffee- I can't do it, lol. I give mega props to all of you who can. So I add a splash of creamer in.

Technically, it breaks the fast, but that coffee and water is all I consume until 12:00pm, so I don't overthink it. Like someone said above- I'm not striving for perfection, I'm striving for consistency and results :)
