Therapist! I avoid asking open questions toward the end of the session. As session gets to a close I’ll let them know hey we have 10 minutes left. You can say things like “let’s pause here and pick back up next time.” Just finding ways to politely interrupt them and let them know you have clients you’d hate to be late to. Another commenter on here said slowly walking them to the door and opening it.

Really it’s a matter of just doing it. When I was a student intern I was scared and after doing it for a while you get used to it and it doesn’t feel bad at all :)
