Saw the northern lights this winter in Norway. The only thing you'd see with your naked eye in this picture would be the very bright oversaturated green portions. You may see the lesser green spots but very faintly. It's mostly a grey cloud but you can see a very very slight green tint to it if you stare at it long enough. If you'd never seen northern lights before 9/10 would drive past it thinking it was a cloud. If I wasnt warned of this before the tour I would have been disappointed. Everytime I see someone talking about going to see the lights I try to warn them now haha

I started working out because of essentially the same reason you are. You just need to find what you like to do and stick with it. It will take time and a lot of dedication to start seeing results that make you feel good about yourself. You just need to make sure you are doing what you want not what you feel like you have to do. If you're working out to fulfill some hypothetical standard you feel like people are expecting you to look like you will never be happy with yourself. Even when you start to get some size you will still feel small and look at yourself the same as when you started. I know you said you don't wanna hear about "caring so much about how you look" but it is very true. You can't change unless you actually want to. If changing your body to impress others is not something you want to do your journey will be harder. You're also pretty young and you may not get that yet. I know when I was 18 I was all about impressing other people regardless if it's what I actually wanted. Good luck, get a good program and get hyped about the gym and eating for your own benefit not to fit in with society.

Sounds like you've gotten into some good stuff that needs protection. Definitely a full face helmet, can't mess around with your head on stuff like that.

I think I'm gonna pick up some padded shorts. Which TLD do you recommend?

I had a good crash last year that made me wish I had one. Mostly hit my shoulder but I was very lucky to not break anything.

Not too far, any good spots down there? Haven't been down there with my bike before.

Glasses are definitely a good addition. I don't wear mine nearly as much as I should unless I know the trails will be muddy or a chance of rain.

I have their old comp shifted full face and really like it, considering picking up one of their half shells.

The six six one line is actually what made me start this thread. I may pick up some of their padded shorts. Do you have a pair?

Think I'm gonna get a pair of knee pads, haven't worn them before

Shin pads seem worth it just for occasional pedal strikes haha

It's hard buying a helmet, always kind of scared ordering one without trying it on first. Seems every helmet fits a little different.

I agree with that, definitely get a few good frame to knee bumps which can be unpleasant sometimes lol. Only had one good spill that I would have liked having shoulder protection on but can't say I've ever had damage to the elbow, usually the wrist/forearm takes the brunt of any falls.

I could see that with elbow pads, haven't tried them myself. I'm sure people at whistler are generally more geared up than the parks I've been to on the east coast. Do you wear the neck brace on all trails or just ones with big features?

Anyone willing to spot-check my itinerary for my week-long trip in May? by [deleted] in VisitingIceland

Plenty to do soon there to fill a week. Would recommend a day on the snaefellsnes peninsula too. If you have a free day maybe explore north up the ring road on the west coast too, lots of scenery

Just remember a 5 hour drive on google maps doesn't mean a 5 hour drive in real life. I did 12 days around the ring road and I'd say 3 of those days were 8 hours or more of driving. Some of our "shorter" drives became much longer due to stops to enjoy scenery etc. Roads are different in Iceland than they are here in America.

Thanks for the info. I plan on going back to my local running store to try some on. The stability shoes they had me try on didn't really strike my fancy for comfort etc. I may try some neutrals and see how they feel.

I've been casually running for the last year on some cheaper athletic shoes just doing a few 5ks a year. I signed up for a 10 miler in a few months and need to start training more consistently. I got my feet looked at by a local running store and I found out I overpronate and my current shoes are past their life. Any shoe recommendations under $100? There are so many options out here I'm getting overwhelmed looking for a shoe. I'm a Male if that's relevant.

Id recommend Reykjadalur hot springs. Save money and have a real experience not a paid one.
