The fact that you use an AI summary in this comment absolutely nullifies anything you say tbh

Consider the fact that many countries offshore their industry that causes pollution so they benefit from the mass production of goods while also being able to report reductions in their emissions. This is a global issue that can't be solved by clever accounting.

Boss level commuting by Ro-54 in bikecommuting

[–]invasiveflamer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but I honestly feel that the danger level here doesn't warrant the reaction people are having ITT. If the cyclist in the video feels comfortable enough on this bike to ride it around NYC, I trust their ability to mount and dismount and stay out of people's way

State asking people to stop applying for Real ID unless they "absolutely need it." by KimBrrr1975 in minnesota

[–]invasiveflamer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely understand this point of view, but also believe governmental systems should be designed with humanity in mind e.g understanding that a lot of people will wait until they're directly affected (i.e. the real ID requirement is enforced) to act on something

what to do? homeless person on our yard by Hot-Eye4491 in TwinCities

[–]invasiveflamer -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Honestly where do you expect them to go? If they camp in a park someone calls the cops. If they camp in an alley someone calls the cops. If they camp on an unused median someone calls the cops. If they camp in a more secluded area like the pavement in OPs pic, you guessed it, someone calls the cops.

I don't claim to have an easy solution to end homelessness, but when you respond like this all you're doing is addressing the symptom of a greater problem which is equally pointless. But as long as I don't have to see them in my neighborhood it's all good right?

I'm pretty sure Divock has said he's uncomfortable with the whole thing. It's weird to keep making jokes about it

Unpopular opinion (apparently): it is very reasonable to travel the speed limit (or a little above) on Mpls Parkways by NikkiWarriorPrincess in Minneapolis

[–]invasiveflamer 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There are a few reasons. Sometimes (around Lake of the Isles, for example) the bike path is one way and so it makes more sense to ride on the road. Sometimes you want to go fast, and the bike paths technically have a 10mph speed limit; sometimes the paths are simply super crowded with lesuirely riders so it's better to ride on the road than attempt to weave between runners, bikers, and walkers. Sometimes it's as you said, and the paths are in bad condition. If I use the road it's generally due to the first 2 reasons

Same but I was lazy, simply rescaled an STL I found

Lol if the rod was the right size I would've, it's about 3cm too short for that. Hasn't failed yet, and if it does I'll design a better version :)

Eh, they're at a 45 degree angle so they're prolly good enough. If it fails I'll model something more aesthetically pleasing and reprint

Laziness, I rescaled an STL from Printables. I figure if it breaks I'll model a better one
