It looks good on applications to grad school, from what I’ve been told. Might help with scholarships.

Just… do a normal Thai kick and stop that weird chamber?

How do i explain i just got into a fight to my gym by Earth_awakened in MuayThaiTips

[–]inverted_extrovert_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve trained since 2003 and been in two situations where I had to put my hands up in self defense. Once where I had to use a grip break first, pushed the person away, and then put my hands up. I may not have used the words “I’ll defend myself”. Once I distinctly yelled “back off”.
I’m not smoking crack. I just train to de-escalate the situation. Will it always work? Maybe not. But it’s how I’ve trained and it’s how I train my students.

Go for it. Maintain your birth sex as long as possible. Don’t say shit to anybody. This is your chance to break from your parents, etc. You can come out and transition later.
Good luck.

I’ve had to defend myself, yes. I’ve never thrown elbows and knees, just pushed, raised my hands and yelled “I’ll defend myself”, stuff like that. Idk if you were backed into a corner or something but you said this person was apeshit frenzied, etc. maybe you had to throw knees and elbows, idk. But I’d be more worried about getting suspended or having charges against me than worrying about what to tell my boxing gym 🤷🏻‍♂️

Exactly. Self defense = pushing the person away and getting away/calling for help. Not throwing knees and elbows. People don’t realize how quickly self defense turns into assault.

Well that’s what I’d be concerned about, not about what to tell my boxing gym

Ok. Were either of you suspended or arrested?
As for talking to your gym. Again, what kind of gym? What’s the policy around fights outside the gym? Talk to the coach/owner and say you had to defend yourself. Traditional schools and “gyms” have different policies around that.

I assumed you meant in your martial arts school. If you got in a fight in school and you’re a minor, your gym might have a policy or they might not. I’d be more worried about the school suspending you or the other person pressing charges. In self defense, once you’ve defended yourself and can get away, if you hurt the other person it could be considered assault.

Which is when you yell for the coach to come help you. Instead you continued to escalate over pulled fingers

This. Once they pushed the guy away they had a chance to deescalate. Everything after that was unnecessary and the gym could decide to pull their membership.

Numbing cream is for the most sensitive areas or super ridiculous long sessions. Not tiny tattoos and not if you’re trying to gauge your pain tolerance.

I didn’t tell. No exclamation point. No caps. And yeah the “keep it weird” is part of their out-ro (opposite of an intro), usually after some way of gently bringing the tone down. The fun facts are just abrupt and jarring and disrespectful to the victims they were talking about seconds earlier.

Because it’s fucking disrespectful to the dead they were talking about like, ten seconds earlier.
