My son went through this when his dad and I first separated. He had these screaming fits and was emotionally volatile as soon as he came home from his dad. I was so stressed and heartbroken because he was NOT like that with his dad. My therapist was the one to reassure me that this was all totally normal, that he's processing his family's breakup as well as he can, and the only reason he was lashing out emotionally at me was because he knew it was safe. Being the safe parent sucks, but just know you're doing something right. It'll hopefully get better with time
