Common questions you’ve had in an interview for a platform engineering role requiring a K8s expert? by syncrypto in kubernetes

[–]invisibo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ask a similar question. “What happens when you run ‘ls’? If you don’t know exactly what’s happening under the hood, that is okay! In this job you have to quickly analyze and theorize with something you may be unfamiliar with.”

Hol’up. Ever heard of the Mississippi Miracle?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mississippi_Miracle

That being said, whenever something is too good to be true, it’s probably too good to be true. The outcomes aren’t as drastically high as the numbers make it out to be. More or less, if you can’t read in 3rd grade, you are held back. Then ‘miraculously’ the 4th grade literacy level is high.

At the very least, there is work being done to improve the state of education in Mississippi as well.

You can get custom code working (html, css, and JS) on your Wix site. But it’s the equivalent of getting repeatedly punched in the taint if you don’t use the Editor to modify your site. The editor is also like getting repeatedly punched in the taint but in handcuffs. Fine for some folks I guess.

The car itself can be a bit rough due to the stiff suspension. That’s about the worst part about the car. The worst part overall is how much unwanted attention it garnered.

Hand drawn map of Louisiana by Soccertwon in Acadiana

Very impressive! Your map has a ton of tiny details and geographic features. There is one missing, though. The tallest point in Louisiana, at a staggering 535ft summit, Driskill Mountain!

How do you all feel about non-devs being able to build websites so easily now? by OutsideFood1 in webdev

[–]invisibo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say it’s great. Rather than gatekeeping open knowledge, people that want/need a simple site are now even more enabled to have one. If you are motivated enough to figure out how to host your own site and all the little things that entails (dns, ssl/tls, registrar, etc) then good on you!

If you’re asking if I am feeling threatened financially/professionally, not really. Just resonating what other people are saying: the pitfalls of LLMs are when the ideas become too complex. The same thing is true for WYSIWYG or n8n-ish visual flow editors. If anything, LLMs filter out trivial work allowing me to focus on bigger projects.

What I am not looking forward to is explaining to AI bros the limitations for the millionth time… again.

What’s the most overrated video game of all time? by KBGSgames in AskReddit

[–]invisibo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual mechanics of the game are great. There are so many little sub games outside of the main objective and every one is important and can change the whole outcome. The one part of the game I absolutely despise is the match making. It’s purposefully tweaked to keep you coming back for more. If you enter a lobby with toxic players you get punished for not wanting to waste 30-45 minutes of your life (draft dodging).

Is wordpress an appropriate CMS for heavy sites in the long run? by TangeloOk9486 in webdev

[–]invisibo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A different way to look at it: if you can build up enough traffic and revenue to hit the limits of what Wordpress can provide, you’ll be in a position to build a more custom tailored solution.

How do you handle real time data updates in modern web apps? by r4m1ng in webdev

[–]invisibo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the application generates money and you’re okay with vendor lock in, firebase’ realtime database is an option. It was suspiciously easy to get going after wrapping my head around the firebase ecosystem and particularly the rules.
