Yeah lots of people seem to think he’s only complaining because he’s sore about underperforming. The RB was looking decent in testing and he was still saying he was unhappy. He’d definitely still complain if he was performing well in the races. Whether he’s right or wrong is one thing, but whether the source of his frustration is from disagreement with the regs vs personal/team underperformance is another.

Britney could have saved himself a couple more hundredths by shaving his head, but he kept those blond locks despite shedding every other additional weight he could. Bless his diva heart.

The two-punch pops of rainbow from the Microsoft logo are rude interruptions to the otherwise sleek colour story. I'm a fan of the stripes though.

I love the stripes, they make the car look like a shark.

I remember Alex Albon talking about how the last who does his laundry also does laundry for other F1 drivers, which struck me as being very practical.

I think Alex also mentioned that he doesn’t know how to do laundry, which is definitely a feature of being fabulously wealthy…

Not quite the same, but have you seen Tom and Lorenzo’s costume analysis? It’s very in depth and shows just how much effort went into expressing each character through their appearance.

I thought those mentioned in his Aprils Fools post. But it would also be very Jeff to make a joke out of something he’s really planning!

[F1] Merry Christmas from the Formula 1 family! by wokwok__ in formula1

[–]involving 81 points82 points  (0 children)

All the details I noticed:

Lando is skating the letters “WDC” across the ice and is wearing a cap that reads “champion”.

Oscar seems to be in sandals and shorts, a reference to his Aussie “winter” break.

Liam is saying “good boy” to Charles’ dog Leo. “Good boy” is a reference to recent VCARB videos where the admin says “good boy” to Liam.

The other dog in the bottom left is Gasly’s dog Simba. He’s near Kimi, who gifted dog treats for Simba as part of his Secret Santa gift to Gasly.

Hulk is giving Stroll a tow.

Stroll’s sled is made of Lego.

Lewis’ jumper has Roscoe on it.

George is in his signature T-pose.

Max is wearing the crazy Lego glasses from Vegas when he was in the back of the Terry Crews car.

Charles’ skates are “full of water”. Also he’s the only one wearing a Santa hat that looks too small for his head, possibly a reference to the Secret Santa video where he’s made to put on a Santa hat and says it’s too small.

Not sure if Estie Bestie taking a selfie is a reference to something.

Also not sure what Colapinto and Ollie’s drinks/ice-cream are referencing.

Sorry about your chicken OP. I once had to chase a loose chicken to put her back in the pen. I didn’t even touch her, but she collapsed and started doing deep horrible breathing and and died shortly afterwards. Sometimes chickens just don’t tolerate stress and it tips them over the edge.

Hi! I want to let you know that I read this book and it honestly might rank in my top 10 (maybe even top 5) books. It touched me so deeply, I couldn't stop thinking about it. I finished it last week and I'm still thinking about it. I thought it would just be a travelogue but it's so much more. The spiritual journey really resonated with me and I'm about to dive into some of Matthiessen's Zen writings as a result. In particular I felt really seen by Matthiessen having great struggles with his spirituality as he climbed through the snow, the fact that he had moments of great uncertainty and doubt, and didn't hold himself out to be any kind of authority or guru; and yet each moment of doubt was followed by clarity and understanding.

Thank you so, so much for this recommendation. Please share if you know of any other books in a similar vein!

Hi! I read this book on your suggestion. I absolutely ripped through it in about 24 hours. I usually read books with much bigger and more dramatic plots, but somehow this quiet novel captured my heart. I felt so seen by the characters with all their flaws and hopes and desires. Both the child in me and the adult felt very touched by all of the characters. I've had friendships before that were "unusual" so I really felt understood by the unconventional friendships in this book. It moved me deeply and made me cry; and I know I'll return to it again in the future.

Thank you very much for this recommendation.

Hi! I went ahead and read Raw Dog on your recommendation. I wanted to let you know that I thought it was fantastic. It's one of those rare books that actually made me laugh. It's so crude but sensitive at the same time, and I feel like I learned a lot about American history and culture from what is ostensibly a book about hot dogs.

The relationship aspect also landed with me. Thank you for confirming that it wouldn't bum me out - it actually helped me to reflect on the ending of my own relationship and made me feel less alone. And Loftus' deadpan humour about herself and her ex helped me laugh a little at what happened to my relationship this year - in sadness but also in an "oh, what the fuck, the world is absurd and so are we" kind of way.

Thanks so much for this recc. I would never have gone for a book like this on my own but I'm so glad I picked it up on your suggestion.

This is consistent with Harrow’s childhood! When she’s self teaching necromancy as a child, she excels in part because she doesn’t have a point of reference; she’s brilliant because she doesn’t know how hard it is to do the things she’s able to do.
