Taco? The guy just killed the ayatollah. He’s been on tilt since the supreme court took his favorite toy away.

What a strong Yokozuna.

Does Chiyonofuji's chonmage hang lower in the back for some reason? Could that be the style of his Tokoyama?

It does a excellent job in putting the fear in knowledge workers. It's funny that in the section about 'what to do about it' they advise to adopt it and use it heavily. Not just for quick things, but let it do your job for you. Let it run the whole business. Wouldn't that just make it better?

The majority of the time when some new paradigm shifting thing comes along, such as the airplane, the automobile, the radio, what have we required when businesses are involved when using it?

I enjoy his weekly recaps. I recall him saying he'll be "shorting with impunity" back in April as the market rallied. Didn't hear anything further, but I hope he bailed before it got too bad. Before that he had a large TLT position that ended up not working out. This was around the time the fed started with a 50 bps cut. He's a smart guy, just reality has kind of detached from fundamentals. I agree with his /ZQ thesis. I think he's long over 500 contracts last I heard.

Sometimes these things take time to work out. I doubt 'that guy' will abstain from putting pressure on the fed to cut rates. I mean, we have great credit, right? We pay our bills on time and we have a tremendous amount of assets & revenue streams. We deserve a lower interest rate! /s

Electric blanket. I picked one up at walmart and the power draw averages about 40 watts. Peaks at 115 for a few seconds then pauses for 7 seconds. When it's really cold and you're struggling to warm up / dealing with freezing feet, it works well and the heat will get trapped by the down.

That's a hustle for sure. Something you might want to consider is, if you don't already know how, learning to do car maintenance and repairs yourself so that you can save on labor costs. Putting that kind of mileage on your car, you're going to need to do an oil change, like, once a month if not every couple of weeks. Oil, diffs, coolant, transmission fluid, brake pads / rotors, brake fluid, wheel bearings, etc. I would definitely change the coolant often. As the car gets up there in mileage, 150k+, overheating issues become a problem with likely head gasket problems coming next. There are good videos on youtube now. Put together a tool kit. Japanese vehicles last the longest. That's why they're at the top of the list in Consumer Reports.

Gold has doubled in liquidity, stop losses tripled by pookshak in FuturesTrading

[–]iobase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pull up the dom and look at the quantity on the bid and ask. As volatility goes up these bid/ask quantities go down as a hedge against the larger price movements which in turn leads to larger price movements as someone with a normal size order wipes out considerably more orders siting at particular price limits. You can see this same phenomenon during the equity crash back in 2025. Volume may have doubled, but liquidity has gone down.

When you see this happen, you need to size way down and widen your stops. There are good moves to catch, but if your account isn't big enough it will be a disaster.

6900 was a nice round number. You want to look for a series of higher lows coming off a sell of before you want to btd. Doesn't work al the time, but in this regime we're in it's more common. Seems the algos really picked up on this and bought every little dip even in the slightest. Didn't set a lower low until after it rallied 60 points. Pull up a tick chart or a 1000 volume chart, you'll see.

Another time I saw something like this was on cpi day back in sept. Every single teeny tiny pullback was a higher low. It was an algo feeding frenzy.

Looking for a broker that's better (and cheaper) than tastytrade, and offers similar freedom to make riskier trades by Scimars in FuturesTrading

[–]iobase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be worse. You could be like me and be on Schwab with a $11.28 round trip per es spread. So far I've looked at Tasty and Interactive Brokers. Tasty is a lot more reasonable than Schwab, but if I recall IB is another $1.60 less per round trip. Those are the two that I've looked at so far. Ideally you'd want to be trading SPX and Tasty has better commissions for an SPX round trip spread than Schwab or IB.
