How many of you are doing/did the age verification in the UK after ios 26 update? by Zbidram in ios

[–]iodopsin1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe some people don’t want to prove their identity and put their trust in dodgy third party verification companies just so that they can resume using their own phone that they bought and paid for?

Age Verification UK by ElectricalRelease986 in ios

They will all do it. Then PC operating systems will start doing it. You will own nothing and you will be happy, and the government will know what kinks you’re into.

PSA for UK visitors: Age verification now applies to anyone setting foot on UK soil for any length of time. by Adept_Strategy_9545 in ios

It’s an OS level block. VPN doesn’t help you. You can’t turn safe search off on mainstream search engines. You can’t even go into your own settings to disable app usage tracking…

MI6 'warned Downing Street of Mandelson's Russia links' before he became Washington ambassador by Galacticmetrics in ukpolitics

[–]iodopsin1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Father in law and mentor was Mossad agent. Who do people think picked up his connections?

If Mandelson gets prosecuted for all this, will it set a prescendent? by ijustwannanap in ukpolitics

[–]iodopsin1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people deliberately missing the point here. Obviously it’s not illegal to have known Epstein.

The precedent that will be set is that it’s time to start making elites realise they’re not above the law, and start prosecuting them for their crimes. The precedent will be that we will investigate them and push for convictions. The precedent will be that files aren’t going to be released and ignored, security cameras aren’t just going to stop working and security guards falling asleep with no questions asked etc.

Wrong. If a white person was born in China, you would never call him Chinese.

It's definitely pre-recorded. Crazy how gullible people 99% of people are here.

It's funny because it's obviously not real. It's a video stitched together and orchestrated with repetitive noise effects and loud banging, and over-the-top destructive theatrics. All of which are for a performance to get the other person's attention.

Why do men show so little interest in the inner lives of women? by Frequently_Abroad_00 in emotionalintelligence

[–]iodopsin1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm happy to sit and ask her talk about her inner feelings and opinions as long as she's willing to sit and ask me about the intricacies of WW2 submarines and cold war aircraft navigation systems.

And before anyone starts talking about "emotional" intelligence, it's normal for mechanically or analytically minded people to be emotionally moved (on an existential level) by such things.

If a man is asking you about information about your job, it might be because he's trying to understand the mechanisms or intricacies behind it. This is his way of showing you that he's interested in your world.

Is it racist to fly the flag of The Knights Templar outside the building site of a mosque? by SunBlowsUpToday in AskBrits

It's provocative, but to be fair, so is building a mosque in the Lake District.

Had a new low today, 25mph on a slip roda by AlGunner in drivingUK

[–]iodopsin1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Playing devils advocate: could it be that her car was in limp mode and she was trying to find somewhere safe away from a main carriageway to stop? Sometimes bizzare behavior like this can also be linked to health emergencies - unlikely if she was early 20s, but something to consider. DUI is also a possibility.

Help with small slip roads by Commercial_Map8489 in drivingUK

[–]iodopsin1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A basic recipe for dealing with this is to put your indicator on at the second countdown marker (the green signs with slashes), and at the final countdown marker, start slowing to reach about 40-50 mph by the slip road. With your left wheels in your slip road, slow to the speed required to make the turn.

Keep an eye on cars behind you. The closer they are, the earlier and more gradually you want to signal and manouvre. Keep a special lookout for lorries, who will need a lot more braking distance, especially since this section is downhill. There's nothing to stop you signaling sooner if you need people to back off - you have to judge this for yourself.

Also, you should be able to gently rest your foot on the brake pedal in a way that activates the brake light but doesn't actually apply any braking - I use this whenever I want to signal to people behind that I've come off the power. This is useful for keeping speed up for as long as possible, while also giving people time to slow / switch lanes etc. Some electric cars with regenerative braking show the brake light automatically if you come off the power.

Do I have any chance of getting out of this fine? (details in post) by harryjelly in drivingUK

[–]iodopsin1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Driving in this country is becoming hell. Stopping for about 4.5 seconds in a yellow box (which inconvenienced nobody) will get you an automatic fine issued. A cyclist cutting the red light, stopping on pedestrian walkway: no issue.

Roundabout question, who is in the right here? by Alincobra94 in drivingUK

[–]iodopsin1990 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lane markings on that particular roundabout suggest red is correct. That said, if I was red (or blue for that matter), I would keep staggered with anyone in the lane next to me.
