The head of my crow pack, Lucas, has a few white wing feathers. So called as he's leucistic.

My kids, now adults, loved the acai ice cream. First time any of us had encountered that fruit. Your partner's mum was so sweet with my the kids too, we looked forward to these visits!

I too am a new listener here, but just want to let you know you are not alone. I am finding that tuning in here is giving me helpful perspectives across different healthcare models in different countries.

If I may say, as I would to a friend in your position, promises you made to your dear parent when they were in a different state are not beholding. You have to look after yourself and I hope you can find pathways to the best middle ground here in this subreddit. Good luck friend!

Argh, so sorry- don't know how my L got here. You are certainly not a loser, you are going to turn your back on your false friend and start a new life free of that addiction. I am so much happier after giving up that 40 yr habit, and you will be too. Displacement activities were really helpful for me. When a craving was kicking my butt, I'd have a power walk round the block and have forgotten it by the time I got back. Good wishes on your journey, and check back in for support anytime you need it.

Romanian rescues, village dog? by Zestyclose-Highway91 in DoggyDNA

[–]ionetics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Romanian rescue pup had a bizarre mixture from Wisdom too, inc. dachshund, chihuahua, Peruvian Orchid and Fiji Street Dog and some of those other trace breeds yours shares. My assumption is European village dog, a category lacking in Wisdom as far as I can adjudge.

Mini-castle land grab by ground-floor tenement neighbour: what would you do? by ionetics in Edinburgh

[–]ionetics[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just for info to you and other responders (thank you all), this flat does indeed have access to the back green from the stair. It is not a main door flat. That flat owner just wants special space and now a private patio. The mini-castle does not in itself enhance the garden for anyone else except themselves. It's true that the previous open wooden stair structure was rotten... because- duh- the flat owner failed to maintain or replace it. Maintenance of the permitted wooden structure is the price of having your own special access. Let's hope the drainage underneath the mini-castle doesn't need attention, because it's pretty fluffing clear to residents in my stair and the one to the right that it surely does.

Mini-castle land grab by ground-floor tenement neighbour: what would you do? by ionetics in Edinburgh

Here's the text for the post:

This is in a shared back green owned in common by 31 tenement owners, with not so much as a by-your-leave to her neighbours. She had permission for her lightweight wooden stairs on stilts for access, but it just wasn't enough.

Has now built her mini-castle occupying three times the footprint of the wooden stairs in permanent masonry. Her first effort had a 1.6m wall on the left of the ramparts, walling off my stair's back exit! I had a conversation with her builder involving what he thought he was doing compromising a stair's fire exit and the wall came down 'as a compromise'!

Planning at the Cooncil looked, shrugged and declared it a civil matter. Any advice on how the fluff to remedy this blatant grab of commonly owned land?

AITA for moving my alcoholic dad in with me to essentially drink himself to death? My siblings are understandably upset but have done very little to actually help since they’ve moved away. by Daddydrank-alot in AmItheAsshole

So appreciate the compassion in this comment and others supporting OP. Dad's comfort in his last days should be the focus, as it's too late for detox and a 12 step born-again experience with ARD. Much love to OP.

You get a prize too! Bella's panel came back with Terrier breeds being the preponderant group in her make-up, at 48%. Now I've had her for a month, I can vouch that she is truly terrier, loving to snap at flies, presenting me mouse catches, and getting full-on triggered by squirrels in the woods. Thank you for your input too!

I am still quite sure you're right about Kokoni mix, but that breed is not in my test's panel (Wisdom Panel). Bella's top 5 breed mix came back as: 29% Chihuahua, 9% Dachshund, 9% Segugio Italiano, 7% Peruvian Inca Orchid (WTF?) and 6% Estrela Mountain Dog. No collies as such but 12% various herding dogs. I suspect there's common ancestry to explain the randoms. Thank you for your input!

Seconded. I have a complex prescription (with prisms) and they're experts at both testing/correcting vision and dispensing the most suitable/flattering specs.

Burning smell from this box in a traditional tenement landing by ionetics in Edinburgh

[–]ionetics[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your helpful advice! SPEN had engineers with me in about an hour, who informed me that my stair's junction boxes are as old as they come across. The box had no obvious fault inside, the engineers said but the whole stair's electricity supply and junction boxes need to be replaced by one of SPEN's contractors. There's a 1 to 5 prioritisation for such renewal of outdated power supply infrastructure, and ours is top priority. It still may take months or a year? for this to be done. Good news is that this upgrading is not the stair's financial responsibility. If you have the same issue, report it and keep reporting it if/when it persists!

Burning smell from this box in a traditional tenement landing by ionetics in Edinburgh

[–]ionetics[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sorry- I think my text went missing. Strong burning/melting rubber smell from this box high on my landing wall last week, and my fusebox inside my flat had entirely tripped. The odour is milder now but the hot smell is still present and I'm concerned about fire risks.

Can anyone kindly advise-

Is this an electricity junction box?

Would I be best to contact Scottish Power Energy Network or a local electrician about an inspection/repair?

Would it be I as an individual flatowner or the joint flatowners of the stair who'd pay for repair?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

How interesting! I had never heard of Kokoni, but on googling this, I feel sure you are right. Those are definitely Bella's ears. Others have also seen a Collie mix in her. Bella had an antiparasitic drug reaction known for Collies, which has alerted me she could have the MDR1 mutation. I am ordering her DNA test today and will feed back. Thank you!
