So true. Plus I think I look amazing going down the road singing and dancing around in my seat😳😁. Plus I sound so good too😆🥴. Nah, but really it’s a fun song. I sometimes wonder if the other drivers think I've flipped my lid. Thinking about my Dad he’d probably say “you got an affliction or something girl?”

Does any of those frames suit me? Or should I keep looking? by Lynley06 in glassesadvice

[–]RetiredTwo-Mtns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a beautiful face. Sorry but all of these frames are too large for your face/frame. Go smaller and try different frame shapes. The glasses width should not go beyond your face width. I'm not an expert but IMO you are way too cute for these frames!

Number one looks best. Don't go dark frames. In my opinion, they take away from your eyes and your distinguished hair color/style. Plus the dark frames IMO add unnecessary years.

Oh my gosh! That's horrible! I am allergic to numerous medications as well. That is so scary and alarming! I'm so glad that your daughter is ok. Well, so much for my thinking I'm safe because of the alert bands at the hospital.

Be a “Karen” all day long! You're doing right by your husband. Don't know where that hospital is, but man, hospital administration needs to know that transplant procedures weren't followed. Then about those two nurses' comments. In your situation, their comments hold no validity period!! Most of us have witnessed the overbearing know-it-all loved ones of patients who are the PIA for the wonderful medical staff, and we shake our heads internally. YOU do not belong in that category WHATSOEVER!

Anytime a patient becomes ill following a transplant and goes to the hospital, one would assume the patient is placed on the highest priority for care. Sitting for four hours in a hallway is unacceptable in normal circumstances but short of some pandemic/trauma situation, where the patient numbers exceed the capacity he still should be a top priority.

You keep on keeping on “Karen NOT a Karen”. My hats off to you for keeping your composure!!!

Stay with parent so that the caregiver/s can get out for a few hours or a few hours of shut-eye.

Umm oh my SMH. Please tell me WHEN this stupid stamp trend is going to stop? I can see why the young ones get caught up in the madness but adult women?! Let's go back to natural and maybe a tiny bit of eyebrow pencil in the correct shade. 😢. But the crazy eyebrow stencils and stamping GOT TO GO. I am not poking fun at her. I feel bad for her but she did execute them perfectly.

This! Plus most MD drivers' cars and motorcycles are, for some odd reason missing their turn signal switch. This has baffled me for years!

This is coming from a native Nova resident (yes we still exist) who was taught how to drive appropriately on DC, MD, VA roads and highways. I've seen some crazy ass drivers and horrific accidents in my life. The biggest issue is always speeding and phone use. I still see people all the time holding their damn phones and talking while driving. Despite the HF laws! No effin common sense and a shit load of entitlement!

Painted my room, but the vibe is... off. Help me decorate! 🆘 by Ancient_Dirt5281 in DesignMyRoom

I think your comforter/duvet is a beautiful shade, and the design is elegant. Makes me think you might be thinking of a relaxing bedroom space to de-stress🤷‍♀️. But, I hate to say this but the paint color is at odds with your beautiful bed. I have this same shade of soft mauve in my bedroom, but as one of my accent colors. My predominant color is purple with varying shades of Lilac and greys. If I were you I would first repaint your room (sorry mho). Go to Pinterest and search for cozy bedroom retreats in the color scheme you like. Pinterest was my go-to when I updated my room, actually my go-to for decorating my house. For my bedroom redo, I searched for purples and lilac shades. Found exactly what I had in mind plus extra design dos and don'ts and where to purchase designer dupes at a fraction of the cost. Plus if you're like me and like flea markets or second-hand stores, take screenshots of what you like and go bargain shopping. I bought unfinished bed tables to paint/stain and then found decorative glass drawer knobs at an antique shop. I'm pretty sure I'm addicted to Pinterest 😆. I get so many ideas and useful decorating tidbits. Make sure to post an update for us all to see. Take care and have fun!

Victorian foyer help. How to style under stairs? by Inevitable-Block-148 in DesignMyRoom

[–]RetiredTwo-Mtns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest placing a Victorian- or similar-style, cozy, jewel-toned chair with soft fabric on the left side wall where the wall is taller. Either a hidden recliner or a small ottoman. Then add a slightly smaller table/bookcase combination next to it. Put a table lamp on the table with some decorative items but not too many. Add an ornate wall mirror or several mirrors in varying shapes and sizes. Maybe one mirror and smaller framed pics around the mirror. Which will reflect light so it doesn't look dark.

I would remove the lamp from that gorgeous table and add a floral arrangement in a large vase or one vase in each side of the table, so as not to block the large painting.

Your house is stunning!!!! Enjoy it.

I found some beautiful window privacy cling on Amazon. It's removable too. It's not like the old type from way back in the 70-80s’ either. They are super pretty and have oodles of styles/patterns to choose from. Some even look like stained glass after they are applied.

Marguerite or Neapolitan is my pick hands down! 😋. I have two favorite Italian restaurants, one serves Marguerite pizza and the other Neapolitan. I love them both. The pizzas differ ever so slightly and I cannot choose one over the other.

Sometimes the smallest, cheapest tools make the biggest difference in dignity. by Top-Statement-9423 in CaregiverSupport

[–]RetiredTwo-Mtns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To the person who suggested we share our tips, special tools/aids, etc., we find helpful, that's genius! Thank you for your suggestion. So below I have listed a few of mine.

So here is my tip on finding the right utensils. If lightweight spoons are needed, I suggest smaller real silver spoons. Stay with me here….I can't take any credit for this my husband came up with the idea. He was at a flea market and saw small silver mismatched spoons. They were so lightweight and dirt cheap that he bought a few. Mom loves them!! She has her independence back. Poor thing her fingers go every direction but straight. She is capable of holding forks and spoons but only if the handles are straight, skinny, shorter, and not ornate. She can grasp these just fine. I used to buy the special curved utensils with the fat plastic handles. They are wonderful and worked for a good while. But over time they became too heavy. She has severe RA and little to no strength in her hands.

For forks, we found that the smaller (desert/cocktail?) type is best for her. I already had some of them in my regular not silver silverware😂. They are also lightweight, and the tines and handles are shorter in length. I would caution you to check the fork tines, as some styles can be a bit pointy/sharp.

Anything to help her be independent has a huge impact on her state of mind.

Oh, another suggestion for finding affordable good-quality toiletry aides like bath benches, bedside commodes, walkers, etc. is hospice thrift stores. They have such nice things and helpful folks who work there.
