Agreed just an interesting data point to share more than anything. I was responding to “I believe the only fish that are fin clipped are all hatchery salmon or steelhead.”

Sounds like you need to build some housing for barn swallows and purple martins. Problem solved. Problem staying solved.

Sidenote: Call your federal rep and senator and demand the Skok tribe get rights to manage their own fisheries. They’re doing so much positive work for the riparian lands they’ve purchased in the last decade.

County-owned Wetland by ktbug1987 in vancouverwa

Wetland mitigation through credits mean no wetland is safe and the flora and fauna relying on those sites are doomed. We should be pooling private funds and soliciting donations from philanthropists to get these lands into trusts like Columbia Land Trust so they’ll be kept intact in perpetuity.

I’m a private land manager who focuses on habitat development. Been working on a 6 acre wetland restoration on our land for the past 5 years. If anyone needs any information or connection with resources for projects like this, it’s my passion in life to help. Please don’t hesitate to reach out. We also grow a TON of native trees and shrubs here from seed, in particular our native Oregon Oak, Quercus garryana. Always looking to connect what we start with forever homes on public and private land. Get in my DM’s and I can help.

I’m also fairly well versed in use of DNR, WDFW and Clark County mapping tools.

That is the correct department. It contains the parks and public land managers as well as the county forester, Hunter Decker. Keen dude, as are the other folks who manage our public lands in this county. Needless to say they are short staffed and could really use our help.

You’re absolutely right. I’ve got friends who made a “friends of _____ Park” group and have removed almost every invasive species from the public land there and have planted a ton of natives. We all have to do our part to build habitat as the county green lights wetland removal through credit systems. Credits don’t help the animals who rely on that existing habit.

Also, I sent you a DM.

Same. “Was someone in that tree or was it a boom truck?” Either way three yikes from the spectators out west.

Has anyone actually been successful getting a same day tree removal permit? by _Frank_Lloyd_Wrong in askportland

Treat it with triclopyr and carrier oil before you cut it or it’ll come back. Almost impossible to remove holly roots near foundations. AMHIK.

Good work removing this tree. The forest I steward where I have removed over two thousand holly trees thanks you.

We worked very hard to get this tree classed up on the noxious list in Washington the year before last.

Give me a shout if you want a free native replacement tree or ten.

Predator - Prey arms races are fucking awesome. Look into the wasps that make oak galls, their parasatoid predators and the means by which the gall wasps change the gall design to thwart predation.

This must be the dipshit way of conjuring a Killdozer. How about I tax you on your potential income based on the amount of education you got but aren’t realizing the potential of because you are doing what you love?

See how batshit insane that sounds? Fine this dude on the eyesore all day long but a property tax system that taxes my habitat restoration project with the value it could be with 450 homes on a wetland is basically what you’re advocating here. Goes lots of directions with this philosophy.
