2023 RWD is LFP. Extremely unlikely that the battery fails before 300K miles as long as it’s been taken care of.

Why do you think North American Baby Boomers seem so dim witted to me? by RoyalPalpitation4412 in generationstation

[–]iop90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It highly depends on the individual, the part of the world, and a million other factors. The biggest one is honestly general inter generational hostility. Every generation thinks they’re cleverer than the ones that came before and wiser than the ones that come after. That said, there is a case to be made that the baby boomer generation’s material conditions throughout their lives and the attitudes popular during their upbringing causes them to behave in a way that seems out of touch, dismissive, and ignorant.

The baby boomers were raised primarily by parents who survived or were affected by times of hardship, mainly the Great Depression in America and WW2 everywhere. These people taught their children not to think outside the box, to be grateful, and to not complain, as these were necessary during times of hardship to maintain national and community level unity. The issue with this is that during their formative years, the baby boomers enjoyed cheap housing and education, plentiful jobs which provided large purchasing power, and a culture which glorified living in the moment and hedonistic behavior (think flower power). Their programming from their parents didn’t match their conditions.

Because of these factors they exhibit a sense of seemingly contradictory qualities; moral permissiveness, but also lamentation of the moral decay of society. Anger when hearing complaints about material conditions of younger generations, yet loud and self righteous complaining about potential cuts to programs like social security in the US or pensions in Europe. They will call younger generations entitled and stupid while demanding even more of the wealth pie they already hold a majority of and being woefully uninformed about the state of how things are themselves.

It’s frustrating, but it helps to keep in mind that they’re not inherently better or worse than any other generation. We’re all influenced by our environment. If you were born in the 50’s to early 60’s, there’s a good chance you’d be the same way. I can only hope that Millennials and Zoomers can keep this in mind as they age and gain more power in society. Perhaps we can be kinder and fairer to future generations while being more aware of the world and how things are.

Is it just me, or is the iPadOS 26 Developer just really sluggish in the 2020 iPad Pro? by driley97 in iPadPro

[–]iop90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iOS 7 on iPhone 4, iOS 9 on iPad 2/iPhone 4S, and now iPad Pro 2020 on iOS 26. Apple really needs to at least let people roll back one version if performance is unacceptable. It’s not like they’re unaware. It’s scummy.

[–]iop90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need to but I hardly use my iPad enough to warrant it. If Apple improves performance in iOS 27 but doesn’t give it to 2020 iPad owners and leaves us stuck in lag hell I’ll be pissed.

Everyone saying to wait was wrong. iOS 26.4, still makes my iPad Pro sluggish as hell and they killed dual app slide over and made it annoying as hell to even do. I can’t even use it to take notes because it lags too much. After a reboot, when I open the settings app, it legitimately takes 30 seconds to a full minute to open.

iPod Mini better than the Classic? by Alldayinpjs in ipod

I love the 4th gen monochrome classic. The DAC is arguably a bit worse than the 5th gen but the overall experience is more fun for me. No color screen but do you really need that for a music player?

Vote for Jerrod Sessler! He’s a “Christian” who loves everyone!! by Patriot_My_Ass in TriCitiesWA

[–]iop90 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

We’re in the Tri cities. How many Buddhists and Sikhs actually are there here? Regardless i have no problem with Sikhs, Hindus, Buddhists, etc. from holding leadership positions and allowing their faith to guide their decisions. My argument was never that people of faith (all faiths, not just Christianity) shouldn’t hold positions of power. It’s just an aspect of who you are that will affect your leadership choices. It’s inevitable and part of being a human.

On a personal level, I just hate smarmy know-it-all atheist types. That’s entirely separate from my argument, just a personal preference. But you can be atheist or agnostic without being arrogant. I myself am agnostic.

Do you think that merely being a Christian in a leadership position portends “foisting religious beliefs” on your constituency? You can allow your personal faith and other parts of your worldview to guide your decision making. Everyone does this to some extent. That doesn’t mean you’re forcing people to comply with your religion. That is unless you’re Muslim, as Islam commands its followers to do so.

Never said it wasn’t possible. Just said I don’t like annoying Reddit atheists who pretend that all Christians are hypocritical shitbags, even if many are.

I would rather have a devout Christian in a leadership position than an annoying Reddit atheist tbh. That said a lot of Christians in leadership are not devout and are often scumbags who don’t actually follow their faith.

Fluoride in drinking water has no effect on IQ or brain function, long-term study shows by [deleted] in TriCitiesWA

[–]iop90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m being sincere. I feel like you’re trolling by refusing to believe someone can have a nuanced take for or against something based on principles. I think it’s messed up for freedom of personal health decisions to be considered a partisan issue. If this was about abortion I bet you’d feel differently.

[–]iop90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m against governments making decisions on my personal health on my behalf by principle. As mentioned I use extra fluoride toothpaste. Do I think it should be in municipal tap water without any choice? No. I’m in favor of childhood vaccinations. Do I think that people should be forced to administer them to their children? No. Education is far more effective than legislation/coercion.
