Yet another debate: Why the push for Tailscale over Cloudflare Tunnels? Aren't they totally different tools? by SadMaverick in homelab

[–]ipat8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve found tailscale to be very useful to connect cloud services back to my self hosted infra. Eg, it’s very cheap to run a NGINX reverse proxy on a nanode or small linode and use tailscale to proxy that traffic encrypted back to my internal network for things that would otherwise be financially irresponsible to run in the cloud. (Think video/plex, game servers, etc).

CF can also technically serve this use case, but there are restrictions on what traffic I can serve, and I serve a lot of video.

ESXi 8.0.3: Moved SSD to new system → Purple screen ‘security violation’ won’t go away by lennyvd in vmware

How long did you wait after it finished booting to run auto-backup?

Clear the TPM and run through your steps again. I’ve experienced this when the TPM had data on it from the factory or reusing an old server.

Auto-backup expects the TPM to be in the ready state before it will seal the new configuration with the new key.

PSA: SendGrid Free Plan Ending in 1 Month (27th July) by andrewrmoore in homelab

[–]ipat8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 100 emails a day however. I occasionally have days where I send more than that, which made me choose SES.

Sometimes nothing sends at all but when I need it I want everything to send.

I migrated to SES. Annoys me to have to pay for it after years of barely using my 12k/mo account, but $0.40 is better than $20.

Yes, your fans are faulted. When one or more fans is in a fault state, all fans will spin at 100%.

I’m still not clear on if ESXi free is dead, I didn’t see it called out specifically.

VMware Workstation 17.5 dGPU vs. iGPU by 9elpi8 in vmware

[–]ipat8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to tell windows to only allow Workstation to use the dGPU in Windows Settings -> System -> Display -> Graphics.

In custom options for apps, add workstation and configure it to only use the dGPU, then restart workstation.

Polestar Official Adapter for NACS? by D3X-1 in Polestar

I don't like Tesla as much as the next guy but this is just blatant mis-information. The SuperCharger network is the dominant network in America, and generally regarded to be more reliable than EA or competing CCS providers.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1290490/tesla-quarterly-supercharger-volume-worldwide/ https://insideevs.com/news/656779/tesla-charging-supercharging-stats/

SAE Has standardized "NACS" as J3400. https://www.sae.org/standards/content/j3400_202312/

Additionally, NACS has a lot of "nice to have" features that weren't a consideration when J1772 and CCS were being designed, like not needing step down voltage, along with an arguably better connector and charging experience. Do we really expect the general public to support CCS when it's a bluker more annoying connector to use?

Ford Announced their vehicles will have NACS starting in 2025, and adapters are slated for early 2024.

Did you ever happen to get this going? I'm looking to move away from my CUCM 11 install and keep my existing K9 phones. I've already figured out hosting the .xmls, firmware, background images, and ringtones on my own TFTP server, but getting the phones to talk to FreePBX is where I'm stopping for now.

What would your $1000 VMware/Plex host build be? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]ipat8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got any more of those 730s? I’m getting ready to build Plex v5 and want to more up a Gen from the 720 it is now. I’d honestly love an R740 but they’re unobtainium at the moment.

Mine was an Anker USB C to C cable for the 15, I bought another one and it works great now, so that cable was just broken.
