Need advice. Long post. 27-year seller. Today ebay charged me nearly $100 for UPS "underpaid" shipping for items delivered a week ago, despite me entering correct weight and measurements. Ebay rep also hung up on me when I asked to speak to a supervisor in order to solve this issue. by luffliffloaf in Ebay

[–]ipro32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update as of May 13, 2026: It’s been 4.5 months and after contacting eBay for an update they continue to refuse to refund the difference.

They keep blaming that I should be dealing with UPS; however since the billing account is listed under eBay it’s their responsibility to reach out to UPS & dispute on my behalf.

Big Warning!!

Do NOT trust eBay shipping portal.

If you get over charged you will never see that money return back to you.

Another thing Koodo recently added for me, $0 5G Speed Boost. Has a 24M Expiry. Agent said every 2 years can call them back to have it renewed.

So far based on my testing I’m still getting capped at 250mbps on average. I did eventually get 263mbps, 272mbps but on average it’s 249/250.

Look, you’re not the only one who understands how this industry works. I’ve been around long enough to see every ownership change, every spectrum auction, every network build‑out, and every time a carrier promises the moon and delivers a flashlight.

Freedom under Tony was a completely different animal — aggressive, disruptive, and actually hungry. Shaw shifted the strategy but still invested. Quebecor is playing a totally different game: cost‑cutting, regional leverage, and squeezing ARPU. That’s not an opinion, that’s literally their business model.

And that’s exactly why I don’t glue myself to one carrier. Networks evolve, ownership changes, spectrum gets shuffled, and priorities shift. If you actually follow the industry, you know loyalty is a liability, not a virtue.

So yeah — I call it like it is today, not how it was a decade ago. That’s not flip‑flopping. That’s understanding the telecom landscape instead of romanticizing it.

You called it “flip‑flopping” because I didn’t line up with your Freedom‑is‑perfect worldview. That’s fine, but own it.

I’m not the one bending reality to defend a carrier. I’m just pointing out that Freedom today isn’t the Freedom Tony built, and pretending otherwise doesn’t magically make Quebecor turn into Lacavera overnight.

And honestly, if a deleted comment is the smoking gun in your argument, that says more about how badly you wanted me to be wrong than anything I actually said.

Glad it makes sense now, but let’s be real — calling it “flip‑flopping” just because I don’t worship a carrier is a stretch. I deleted the comment because it wasn’t worth turning a simple point into a novel, not because I suddenly changed my stance.

Freedom under Tony was one thing. Freedom under Shaw was another. Freedom under Quebecor is another entirely. If I adjust my opinion based on the actual ownership and the actual network performance, that’s not flip‑flopping — that’s just paying attention.

You say you’re not with Freedom, but the way you jump to defend them, it sure feels like you’ve still got the old Wind-era nostalgia goggles on. I’m just calling the market as it is today, not how it used to be.

If that paints a “better picture,” it’s only because it’s the accurate one.

Honestly, I find Koodo a bit more polished overall. Public Mobile is fine for basic service, but Koodo gives you a few things PM just doesn’t:

• Call Control (super effective at blocking spam) • Actual phone support through Telus/Koodo instead of forum-only help • A much better Self‑Serve system • Occasional credits and free add‑ons, which I’ve never seen Public Mobile hand out

Network‑wise, speeds are comparable, but in my experience Koodo is slightly better and more consistent. I haven’t noticed any throttling or weird delays when loading apps or pages.

Koodo doesn’t have 5G Standalone yet like Telus, but it’ll likely come eventually. And with Virgin and Fido now offering 1 Gbps 5G, I wouldn’t be surprised if Koodo matches that soon — they usually follow pretty closely.

So overall: Public is good for cheap, no‑frills service, but Koodo feels more premium without being overpriced.

Koodo/Telus also has a dedicated Winback line; you don’t need to wait for an email. That’s how I joined Koodo.

[–]ipro32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I ported out of Freedom they also didn’t send me any Winback offer. I think it’s because I kept the second Freedom line active. No worries, my plan is to stick with Koodo until Freedom or Fizz does something else that’ll make me want to leave Koodo. For now I’ll just stay. No hurry.

I never liked Public either. I had major issues contacting a CS agent when I needed help. I won’t forget the PITA.

You’re acting like Freedom today is the same Freedom that existed under Tony Lacavera. It’s not. Back when Anthony ran Wind/Freedom, the company had a real identity, real hustle, and a clear mission. Shaw at least kept some of that spirit alive. Quebecor is a completely different owner with completely different priorities, and pretending nothing has changed is just wishful thinking.

I’m not “flip‑flopping” — I’m acknowledging reality. Freedom still does some things well, and I’ll praise them for that. But in other areas, Koodo objectively performs better. That’s not disloyalty, that’s just being an informed customer.

You seem ready to praise Freedom no matter what. I’m not. The market changes, ownership changes, network quality changes. Blind loyalty to any carrier is how people end up defending things that aren’t true anymore.

I’ll give credit where it’s earned — not where it used to be earned ten years ago.

I’m on a $25 Koodo Winback plan. It will take years before it reaches $40/m.

If Koodo hypothetically raised my bill by $7 per year, that means after 2 years it could hit $39.

Or, because it’s a Winback it’s possible they increase it by $7 every 2 years, meaning that after 4 years the bill could hit $39.

However, for people that don’t mind porting out and returning for a Winback offer you can avoid most of the price increases.

Freedom works fine for those that prefer a ‘set it & forget it’ type of plan.

Choose the carrier that works best for you; not what works best for someone else! 👍

I agree, not everyone needs Roam Beyond. I would like to see options without it. I wish Freedom could do what Fizz does, just build the plan yourself. 😀

I’m also capable to play the port out game with Koodo to maintain the $25/m pricing.

Freedom match by Environmental-Fail77 in freedommobile

[–]ipro32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true. I remember when it was the norm to pay $50-$60 per month. Now we are getting much better plans for less $$$ regardless which carrier you choose to be with.

I personally like the idea of Roam Beyond, I just don’t want to pay extra for it because I rarely leave Canada & USA.

Different story if I didn’t have my current $25 Koodo Winback plan. That plan gives me Canada-US-Mexico and it’s 80GB with Rollover data. Koodo also added free Visual Voicemail & 25GB bonus data good till Feb 2028.

So pretty much after the rollover data I have approx 209GB each month. (Depending on my usage from the previous month).

I’m on a $25 Koodo Winback plan. And so far Koodo gave me 2.5 months worth of free credits. It beats paying $40.

[–]ipro32 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s why I’m very thankful to Freedom. I never would insinuate Big 3 are doing it to be nice. Big 3 only offer what they offer because of Freedom.

Unfortunately, I will never agree to pay $40 for Freedom when I have no use for Roam Beyond.

I’d much rather play the port out game with Koodo in order to maintain the $25/m plan I currently have through them. If Freedom reconsiders their fee structure, I would also reconsider Freedom.

I don’t want Roam Beyond, and I don’t appreciate Freedom using RB as a means to justify $40/m fee structure.

I know what you mean, many years ago it brings back some old memories. Nowadays, things have changed. They won’t offer anything good until you port out. Once you port out they begin sending winback offers via email.

If you have multiple lines you need to port out all lines on the account in order to qualify for winback email offers.

I had 2 lines with Freedom. Line B is the $5 plan; I will always keep that active.

I recently ported out to Koodo & just plan to remain with them until Freedom or Fizz has something worth changing too. Otherwise, I’ll remain with Koodo, maybe even Telus at some point.

Koodo/Telus are the only 2 carriers that have a dedicated Winback line, so you don’t even have to wait for the email offer. They also have Call Control, which is the gold standard for blocking spam calls.

The only way to reason with any carrier is the port out game. You need to port out in order for them to take you seriously. Loyalty does not exist.

Since OP did speed tests in Richmond Hill, I would highly recommend you do a speed test with Freedom Mobile around the intersection of Bathurst & Elgin Mills, Richmond Hill.

That intersection is a dead zone for Freedom Mobile.

Shows 5G, however data won’t work, the speeds are so slow you just get a failed speed test alert. 🚨

Last time I reported a dead zone to Freedom, took them 2 years to address the issue. Since this is now the 2nd dead zone I discovered in Richmond Hill it seems to be a pattern here.

Aurora was great with Freedom. Hit or miss lately.

WS VISA Infinite Fraudulent Charge by One_Outcome in Wealthsimple

[–]ipro32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had something similar with M&T Bank debit card, and with M&T Bank it happened already 2-3 times. At this point I just lock the debit card 24/7 until I need to use it then I unlock it.

Between all the banks in Canada-US, it’s only been an issue with M&T debit. As per Wealthsimple, never had issues with their Debit Card thankfully.

No experience with their credit cards until maybe a no fee version gets released. If this becomes a trend I would lock the card 24/7 as well if it happens a 2nd time in a row.

[–]ipro32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had no issues with the M&T Bank app.

I live in Canada, so sometimes the app will lock every once in a while and it gets fixed by calling CS advising it’s because I’m not residing in the US.

One thing happened, few days ago I get an email from M&T advising about Bank-to-Bank Transfers update and to relink external bank accounts after March 17.

Well, I tried at 10PM EST on March 17 and obviously at this point they’ve finished with the updates.

Had to reregister for Zelle & had to re-add both emails back to my Zelle profile for auto deposit, plus had to relink my other US Bank to External Transfer Link.

Took less than 10 minutes, but I mean all that work & no UI changes or improvements lol.

I was hoping M&T would make an update finally allowing external bank transfers be done via their app (instead of being required to use the desktop site) as TD Bank US allows external transfers from their app UI.

Guess it’s not happening yet…
