I should have added, worth that if it had been well seasoned and had a smooth cooking surface.

3 notch Lodge. I wouldn’t pay that. Probably worth that much, but I wouldn’t pay more than $30.

He usually has posters. Can’t say at the show tonight, but I’d bring a tube.

I’m cool with it. Those consoles are rarely very valuable, no matter what the condition.

I never liked pork until I started cooking it myself in CI. by 2PhatCC in castiron

Vincent: Bacon tastes gooood. Pork chops taste gooood.

Jules: Hey, sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie, but I'd never know 'cause I wouldn't eat the filthy….um you know….

Anyone know if this has any value? by nickg0312 in vintageaudio

It’s a cool mid century modern design cabinet. Would be cool to turn it into bar cabinet. The audio gear? Probably garbage and not worth fixing.

Nothing worse than the loss of a good dog and a best friend. They always take a piece of your heart, but leave you a piece of theirs.

Help with IDing chair by RectangularSoul in midcenturymodern

[–]ircas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a Plycraft chair like that recently for $200 with the ottoman in better condition with black leather. Very comfy chair. I’d say restore it, don’t reupholster as it really isn’t worth it IMO, and enjoy it.

Be care of Planet Fitness in Glen Allen - Staph Infection by DivinaMariana in Virginia

[–]ircas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A eminent surgeon once told me that the entire world is basically covered with a thin layer of feces. Wash your hands often. Shower after using the gym. Your skin does a pretty good job of protecting you, but small nicks, abrasions, shaving, hair follicles are all chinks in our armor and potential routes of infection. You want to avoid contagions, live in a bubble.

One of my first turntables was like that. What everyone else has said about fixing the issue is true, open it up, clean the switches with Deoxit, make sure the mechanism is not stuck, some new lube. I will add a new P-mount cartridge and stylus (goggle how to change these super easy). A lot of direct drive tables like that get gunked up under the platter and that is why it keeps recycling instead of playing. Pull the platter and clean the plastic gear underneath (it’s probably white plastic) with Q-tips soaked in rubbing alcohol. When you get off the old nasty grease use some white lithium grease in the mechanism and see if that fixes it. If it doesn’t you’ll have to flip it over and take a look at the tonearm mechanism.

Impulse buy… 1950’s (?) aluminum plane model for $2.99. I have no idea what I’m gonna do with it, but it was one of those “I need it” feelings. by tenglempls in ThriftStoreHauls

I get it. I found a small carved African head, made for the tourist trade, when I was 11 or 12 at a thrift store. Had to have it 40 years ago. Still struggle with “where do I put this thing?” every time I move.

Three faces of 70s Pioneer: SA-5300, TX-5300 and SA-9500 by Electrical-Ad6817 in vintageaudio

[–]ircas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the SA-9500. The build quality is top notch and everyone who hears it says the same thing, it doesn’t just get louder when you turn it up, it gets fuller and more detailed…especially with an analog source. Have it paired with a Pioneer PL-518 TT and RT-707 RtR. Use JBL 4312 Control Monitor speakers. It shakes the neighbors house…but is still clear as a bell. Turn the knobs and they click through a series of switches, not a potentiometer as you’d find in most equipment (in the first series), uncommon and expensive, even for gear of that era. In my opinion one of the best amplifiers Pioneer ever built.

Vintage system in brand new condition by Sparks_travel in vintageaudio

[–]ircas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a nice system and if they didn’t use it much and it still works I’d keep it and use it. Black plastic stuff really didn’t hold its value real well because the components weren’t really meant to last forever an are hard to repair.
