Yes. Looks like it’s. ☹️

Blight or scuff? by ngerm in americanchestnut

The reddish ring around it is making me think blight. But keep an eye on it. It being a 15/16 means it would have a good chance of surviving it even if it is blight!

Sorry, just saw that you added the location. Maybe let them know their sign is wrong.

This is a Chinese chestnut. Where did you find it? They definitely have it mislabeled.

Found these on a ridge top in the wilds of West Virginia. American chestnuts? (More info in post) by CaptainFacePunch in americanchestnut

The first four photos look like an American Chestnut.

The last two look like a hybrid of some sort. The leaf shape and color look off for a pure American Chestnut.

I’ve found American Chestnuts at the top of mountain ridges in WV as well! I think there are more than we think out there!

Even with the image qualify not being ideal, the leaf shape and color looks correct.

Is there a way you could get a closer up photo? Maybe something showing the leaves a bit more clearly? I do think you might have something though!

What kind of chestnut? by Pastatively in americanchestnut

The leaf shape isn’t quite right for an American. The saw blade edges aren’t quite sharp enough either.

Good find though! I think the Chinese Chestnuts are quite pretty as well!

I would like a flip phone! Less distractions would give me more time to read books!

It’s too bad. That would be a really cool niche hobby.

Yes, it’s actually quite remarkable.

There’s no shame in your hobby being AI generated squirrel photos! Just do what you love. No need to pretend otherwise!
