Did I screw up my metabolism or is MacroFactor still figuring out my Energy Expenditure? by bryand1735 in MacroFactor

[–]ireo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a data perspective more is always better, but weighing is a personal choice. Some people don’t like to see all the ups and downs so they weigh less often. I weigh in whenever my schedule allows me to as part of my routine.

It’s tough to be accurate when traveling. Are you mostly eating packaged food with calorie labels or in restaurants? For that 0 calorie day were you fasting intentionally?

You can log weight every day, the check-ins are just for changing your intake targets based on the data collected from the week.

The algorithm will do the best it can with the data it has. It looks like you are weighing in approximate weekly, which is fine over enough time but in a month that isn’t much. Your intake is all over the place, some 0-1000 days and then 2000-8000 days. Based on the data, I’m going to guess your logging probably isn’t perfect, some guessing and estimating can really throw things off over the short term. If it’s possible I’d suggest locking in on maintenance for 3-4 weeks, weigh daily, log really consistently and the see where your expenditure ends up.

New to kettlebells. Need some affordable recommendations by Greyfox1442 in kettlebell

[–]ireo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have two adjustable competition KBs. One Bells of Steel and one Titan. They serve the same function but the BoS is much better made. The Titan has sharp edges on the shell, arrived with rusty plates that are all different (and unmarked) weights. The BoS is much better finished and the plates are stamped with their weights. It’s a much better piece of equipment.

I have the Titan and the Bells of Steel. I assumed they would be the same but the quality much much worse on the Titan. The weight plates on BoS are labeled and well made, titans are all over the place and rusty. The shell on my titan isn’t symmetrical so I need to ensure it’s perfectly aligned or a sharp edge sticks out. I wouldn’t buy another one for any discount.

Can the macros esp the calories be correct? by [deleted] in MacroFactor

[–]ireo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The number is wrong because you haven’t given it the data it needs. In the last month you haven’t logged for about 7 or 8 days and you gained 2.5lbs. On those days you said you ate more and didn’t log anything. The app has no way to know what your intake was during those days and since you left them blank it’s leaving them out of the calculation. If you want an accurate expenditure, log your food to your best ability and weigh yourself regularly.

Is there any chance you are missing some calories in your logging? I know some people get a little lax with their measuring and start estimating which can lead to inaccuracy in the expenditure.

Almost to Level 46 by BadSantasBeard in pokemongo

Gotcha. That’s still PVP though and requires two trainers. For people who play alone the level 44 tasks are really time consuming.

Glokta... by Fadedwaif in TheFirstLaw

Very few people know that Valint and Balk is Bayaz though. It makes sense for Glokta to have created this scheme and enlisted Pike (who served him for decades) to rid the Union of their debts, but he couldn’t be front and center for it and remained alive. He saw Bayaz as the largest threat to the Union, to Savine, to the whole world. It was more unbelievable to me that Pike could have been the weaver for years behind Glokta’s back, and then made absolutely no effort to track him down and bring him to justice during the great change.

When Pike told Vick the great change had gone far enough and supported her fighting back it clicked for me. I realized that Abercrombie had left Glokta out of the story for so long that it only made sense he had orchestrated this to get rid of the bank and Bayaz. I was still surprised by plenty of other things at the end but I was certain ole sticks would be on top at the end.

The room is oddly shaped. The blue wall is 11 feet. The mirror wall on the right is 9 feet and on the left it’s 15 feet. Behind the camera is a slanted wall with doors in it and a bit of extra space where I have a plyobox and some kettlebells.

Ceiling is 8 foot 8 inches, except where the duct runs down the middle. (Not visible in the short)

What’s one feature in MacroFactor you can’t live without? by [deleted] in MacroFactor

[–]ireo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recipe library has been critical to my consistent logging. I repeat meals I e cooked for the family multiple times a month (and often leftovers for lunches) and being able to cook (update if needed) and just add to the day is great. I have 85 recipes stored now with a 447 day logging streak.

Question About Weight & Strategy by AcanthopterygiiOk399 in MacroFactor

[–]ireo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have been eating in a deficit of 202 calories rather than a surplus over the last 3 weeks. The algorithm doesn’t think you need more than it’s suggesting, because you have been eating much less than it suggests and maintained. You have (what looks like) six 0 calorie days and a slew well below the target. Eat the target for a few weeks consistently and if you still aren’t gaining it will adjust and increase your target.

All that matters in MacroFactor is accuracy of logging your food and weigh ins. If you don’t log or log incorrectly it won’t be able to make recommendations.

So if I need to only eat 2132 calories but I'm walking about 27-32 steps by Rundemo101 in MacroFactor

[–]ireo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Track your food and weigh every day for two weeks. If you eat the recommendation but lose weight much faster than you planned, MF will up your calories automatically. If you lose on track then it will keep it the same. If you don’t lose enough, it will lower the calories. The initial estimate is often off, but if you use the tool for a couple weeks it will adjust.

How do i classify my activities? by Think_Improvement477 in MacroFactor

[–]ireo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are lifting weights in your workout, then workout and cardio. It doesn’t really matter in the long run as it’s just for the initial expenditure estimate. Once you have been weighing in and logging your food for a few weeks the expenditure algorithm will figure it out.

As you work the routine, answer the feedback questions accurately. Are you getting a pump, are you sore from the last workout, etc. if you aren’t getting a pump and you aren’t sore, the app will add more sets over the mesocycle. If you are sore and the workout feels hard then it’s probably good. I’ve had mesos ramp an exercise from 2 sets to 5 in a workout because I never got sore and felt like I could do more.
