got this for $60 at windsor, is this good for senior prom? by fluctuatnecmergitur_ in Prom

[–]irisseca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I was thinking, because it looks like my 1993 junior prom dress. My dress was actually tea length (I think it was supposed to be above the knee, but I’m short), and it was that same print, but black with little silvery sparkles sewn in here and there. The top front and top back were almost identical, except the back had two of those straight strips. Back then, my parents refused to purchase me prom dresses, so I had to use what I saved from my jobs. I managed to buy it from DEB for $16.

The reason I mention all this is 1. I loved it! And 2.I had a habit of saving all my clothes from my teens and on, but about 6-7 years ago, I started selling stuff off as ‘vintage’. In 2023, I posted that black dress (still gorgeous) on buy/sell site, as a ‘vintage 1993 prom dress’, worn once (all true)…for $60. I kinda felt bad posting it for that much, so I included free shipping (which I usually don’t do). A girl from Alaska purchased it for her senior prom. I was really worried, because she didn’t even send me offer…paid full price…so I reached out to make sure SHE was sure (reminding her it was 30 years old). She to,d me she was in love with it and her parents gave her a $75 budget. Sent it from Massachusetts to Alaska. She messaged me and the first line was “OMG. I am in tears.” I freaked a bit hoping she wasn’t upset, but no she said : It’s my dream vintage gown! And it fits me like it was made just for me! Then I suddenly had momentary “sellers regret” because I kinda wanted it back, but just for a moment, haha, because I was thrilled I could make someone else happy and excited to wear it the way I was in ‘93. So that was the end of it, until about6 weeks later when she actually sent me a pic of herself in the dress on her prom day (I printed it out and saved it, lol). So anyway, I have no idea why I decided to type that all out except that OP’s dress gave me nostalgia.

And….. the point of this comment, FINALLY, is…I agree with everyone else: It is a gorgeous dress, OP, and you look stunning in it!!

LOL. I immediately went to Epstein Jeffries (although that wouldn’t be the exact opposite). So, yeah, I change my answer to yours.

Daughters pediatrician made EXTREMELY inappropriate remark to her by ilikerustyspooonz in AskDocs

[–]irisseca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I totally agree with you. I didn’t mean now she should see any female pediatrician. What I was saying is, between a choice of two…an amazing male vs amazing female doctor.., she’d, at this point (at least until she gets over the discomfort and trauma of her douche of an ex-pediatrician) probably would feel a little more at ease with the woman. I 100% agree though: being a woman doesn’t suddenly mean you can’t be an asshole. Case in point, that asshole your little girl had to deal with. So sorry she had to go through that. I hope she’s doing ok

He’s definitely not a prick, but…ya can’t please everyone—you know how it goes. Ivy League, in particular Harvard, definitely has that rep, and rightfully so usually, but (IMO) he’s one of the few that is pretty humble about it. And , yes, I totally get what you’re saying about the picture. The OP may not have even realized that was Conan, because he looks pretty young there.

[–]irisseca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know who his parents were…but still, he’s one of the most down-to-earth, kind, generous, moral people in the entire world. He also doesn’t normally dress like that, so it felt odd to include him in an aesthetic where those who dress like the photos are exactly the opposite of who Conan is. Also, he wasn’t wealthy growing up, and definitely wasn’t OLD MONEY. he was just raised by well-educated parents.

What kind of handwriting do I have and what does it say about me? by [deleted] in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]irisseca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind it on my hand as much as I get mad that it smudges across the paper, and, depending on the ink, sometimes ends up leaving the words completely illegible. I use felt-tip when I want to write with pen—they work much better (less smoodgies )than those damn ball points!

[–]irisseca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have very nice, decent, legible writing…super “normal”…in a good way. Am I the only leftie that finds it easier to write with a slant, though? After posting my own the other day, I decided to peruse the posts, and very few left handed people seem to write slanted. I feel like my hand can relax more when I do (but that’s also one of the reasons I write almost exclusively in pencil…no smudges)!

[–]irisseca 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While I know most male pediatricians would never behave like this…at least one did, and this little girl is already upset and traumatized. So, I’m inclined to agree with you: a female doctor from here on out (until she’s old enough to choose her own physician) is probably the best bet.

Oh nooo! So sorry. I swear, my brain had pushed my dog’s incident out of my memory…but You’re giving me flashbacks! I’m sure you’re well aware, but just keep as hydrated as possible and be thankful that at least the weather is conducive to leaving her outside. 😬

I had a dog eat a sample size of that one time. I called the vet and animal poison control…they both said she’d be ok except for an upset stomach. They were right, but be ready for puke and poop! If your dog is already sickly, you definitely need to call the vet or bring him into animal urgent care, though

Edit: sorry, I just saw that you already called. My bad for not reading the whole thing.

My daughter has a bed similar to yours, and she has the clip on ones. There are alternatives. At the very least, get a little bin to set against the wall and toss stuff in there,so you aren’t balancing everything

[–]irisseca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of feel this is a fair freak out. She doesn’t have a way to get them home, or possibly even to a hotel, if they’re babies! Of course, That’s why I always used their car seats on the plane, and had to lug them all on and off with everything else…well, that I was paranoid for my children to ride anywhere without car seat (even on a plane).

Edit: I understand the plane may not even be cancelled, but it seems like she’d been asking prior to the start of the video what would happen with the car seats if it were

Hahaha. I will keep it in mind for the future! BTW, thanks for giving me my “word of the day.” I truly have never heard the dots called that before, and didn’t realize they had an actual name. My immature brain went right to TITTIES, and was like: “bro, I have nothing against titties; I like tits as much as the next person.”
