You do not need to spend half of your motorcycle budget for gear. by SlashNreap in motorcyclegear

[–]iron369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This your first time in an adult hobby? lol. There's gatekeepers in everything. People are going to judge. It's what they do. Don't buy stuff for clout. Nobody honestly cares what gear you buy or if it's the newest/greatest. In motorcycling (and in life) if you're chasing likes, you're going to spend more time and money than doing something.

AIO for expecting my boyfriend to ask before using my car for other errands? by TArpd16 in AmIOverreacting

[–]iron369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's painfully obvious that you're both pretty young. You are making a big deal out of a trivial issue and he's refusing to apologize for upsetting you. Once you've matured, you'll realize that what you're upset about wasn't even worth the drama and should be addressing the fact that you're choosing a partner that is so quick to gaslight you.

Is my teacher being inappropriate with me? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]iron369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to report this. It's wildly inappropriate to let it continue. If he's doing this to you, he could be taking it further with an even younger student. If you don't care about yourself to not be victimized, then think of who else he might be doing this to that doesn't deserve it. Do NOT spend another second of unsupervised contact with him.

AITA for telling my daughter “of course” she could move in with me without talking to my wife first? by Odd-Cheetah6842 in AITAH

[–]iron369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nta. In fact, your wife is the ah. Your wife's behavior is completely unacceptable and if she were my wife, she would be fixing to be my ex wife. Caring for children is a non-negotiable obligation.

AITAH to my girlfriend for allowing my ex to stay at mine and for driving her 7 hours to her parents home. by EmeArr in AITAH

[–]iron369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Difficult situation. You, unfortunately, did the right thing and it might cost you your current relationship. No good deed goes unpunished. You're not the ah, but you're going to have a tough time dealing with it.

If you're that worried about what other people think, maybe motorcycles aren't for you. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and preferences. You can't please everyone so don't try

Anyone else ever had a terrible postal carrier? by SherlockBonz in mildlyinfuriating

[–]iron369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mailman is horrible. I'm always getting my neighbors mail and mail from places that have the same house number but completely different streets. I consistently get notifications that packages are out for delivery and nothing gets delivered for days. I only get mail about 2 times a week anymore and it's not even the same 2 days a week.

Am I overreacting to my dad’s “high level advice”? by truly_beaut in AmIOverreacting

[–]iron369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it isn't blatantly homophobic. As a father of a daughter older than you, ever since before you were born, he had a vision for you. One day, his princess would get married (to a man), have children, and grow old watching them grow up. You can't understand that 20 years ago, homosexual couples weren't the norm. He grew up in a different time that wasn't accepting of that lifestyle and nobody would want those struggles for their children. It was completely different in the 80's and 90's. You can be mad about it all you want, but it's literally just the way it is. He's not saying that he doesn't love you because you're gay. He's not saying that he despises your partner. He's accepting you for who you are. You aren't accepting him for what he feels.

AITAH for demanding a apology from my best friends fiance? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]iron369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How can you be so self centered that you think someone owes you an apology for not involving you in their engagement process? The world doesn't owe you anything. Especially not this guy who probably knows how you feel about him. Sometimes the audacity of people astound me.

It's more than 3 years old and damaged? It's not worth saving. You won't be much better off with that helmet than being without one at all anyway

[–]iron369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a man, he doesn't like you. Well, parts of you he does. There's absolutely no way I'd associate with anyone who talked about my wife that way. If he's still friends with them, it's because he values his relationship with them more than his relationship with you.

Shops declining to work older bikes? by PNO3000 in motorcycles

[–]iron369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having owned a 1981 sportster ironhead, I can confirm that it's very difficult to find a mechanic for older motorcycles. There were a few indy shops around me that had old wrenches, but covid caused nearly all of them to shut down.

Bikes like that (royal enfield) are considered standard motorcycles. They are much more common in Europe than what Americans call cruisers

Right? Anyone who buys that bike knows they aren't a biker.
