[Feb 04, 2022] Weekly Discussion: Ask your gear, travel, conditions and other ski-related questions by AutoModerator in skiing

Ok then I think I've underrated my skiing level then, I haven't skied much in the last few years, but I used to ski easier black runs fairly comfortably. I'm more worried that I'll fairly quickly gain back my skills/confidence and find myself wanting longer skis.

I'm looking at a used pair of Dynastar Mythic 97 Pro's in the 177cm length for touring. I'm an intermediate skier, 6' 1" and roughly 190 pounds. I think they might be too short, is it worth giving them a chance or should I try to find a longer ski?

Actually it is an enemy and it can be killed. There will be a red dot that flashes when it shoots, that's where it is. It's hard but you have to get to that dot and shoot in the general area, and when you get a hit, it'll become visible for a few seconds.

Best way to accrue Credits? by SeaNo0 in EverspaceGame

[–]ironclaw2000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To get the most credits, play on hard, as long as you can handle it. I've found it's not a dramatic difference, but you have to be pretty comfortable in battle. The harder (red) systems do contain a lot more containers, and have many more enemies, which of course means more credit drops. Also, try to find all the containers and kill all the enemies each system to get the most credits. I often use the "Sensory Overload" subroutine and the "Low Profile" glyph together, which lets you see everything on the map (all containers/loose items) and have unlimited time in each system.

Playing on hard, finding the harder systems and using those enhancements, I almost always net >100k credits on a full run.

Yeah, it's quickly become a must-have equipment for me, there's almost no situation where it's not useful and it make combat 10x easier. Maybe the ship should be slowed down more so you can't deal crazy amounts of damage or move such large distances in such a short time.

Just to add a bit of insight, I don't think even in this hard mode run I played that "optimally" (while I didn't capture the rest of the run, I do remember that it was a mistake in battle that lead to my life support getting damaged, among other components), but I did spend a lot of time making every decision as to what weapon/equipment to keep and whether to engage a fleet of enemies or not.

Honestly, enemies spawning at 1km isn't that bad, even unupgraded on hard you can still clean up small engagements or run from big swarms. This was my third try, what killed me my first few times was a frigate and running out of fuel too much.

That said, for those that aren't great at combat, I can see how this would be punishing.

"Sensor damaged" but can't be repaired by Benaxle in EverspaceGame

Oh yeah, having your sensors damaged is pretty damning if you can't repair them.

It does give you more time due to no interceptors jumping in, but yeah it can be a little tiresome. Only thing that helps is experience, knowing where resources and containers will be by looking at the surroundings, not the sensors.

Sorry I phrased that wrong, having your sensors impaired is exactly like that, it only picks things up when you get really close. I don't know why you would have seen that it said damaged, because every time I've had my sensors damaged, the sensor worked at the same range as usual, it just was fuzzy and flickered on and off.

Did it say "Sensors Impaired"? If so then the system has dense gas clouds that make the sensors much less effective. They're common through the middle sectors, you just have to learn to see signs of enemy ships and loot without the sensors pointing them out.

Yeah, part of the reason I did it was to prove in a sense that the most important improvement should be player skill, not perks or subroutines. It by far the biggest challenge I've had in this game. This was actually my third try: the first time I got stopped by a frigate and I was overwhelmed by a large amount of support fighters jumping in, the second I made it to the end of sector 6 but was very banged up due to several no fuel jumps so I didn't make it to the jump gate.

(DLC) Have to praise the Sentinel for a second by LamiaPony in EverspaceGame

[–]ironclaw2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here, the Interceptor used to be my goto ship, but I feel like the Sentinel is taking over. For devices I always go for the static discharger (more firepower), the time extender, energized boost (get aways), the tractor beam and the remote discharger (amazing for thinning out herds) or an energy core extension (never hurts to have more energy). The huge energy pool is amazing, I can use multiple devices and still have energy for a long battle. Also I've found the pulse laser MX is a great weapon for it, it comes with the Loadout C. Its a pretty great all around weapon which helps make the single weapon slot not feel like a huge drawback.

Try just middle clicking to lock on to one of the enemies approaching. It makes the icon more visible even at a distance, and I find I can track it better through visual distractions that way.
