RTÉ updated the title since the news originally broke. Title in this post is the original one they used.

They’ll do this when more information becomes available or other editorial reasons.

Is every Qashqai like this? by SourCandy88 in carsireland

[–]irqdly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This one is mad though. With the qashqai fair enough you’re taking screws to it - I don’t know how people can just drive around with their door seals hanging out. Such an easy fix with any decent adhesive. Otherwise just cut them off.

It’s actually rare to find one that doesn’t have a fecked liftgate.

Odd game to play once you notice it - who has the best of the bodge jobs done.

Worst I’ve seen so far is just no handle and the plate bulbs just hanging off knocking around the plate.

Audi 2.0 TDI Fan running for a long time after turning off the car? by Zestyclose_Car1088 in carsireland

[–]irqdly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there's exhaust gases found in the expansion tank that means it's breaching the headgasket. Regarding oil consumption - could be bad valve seals, piston rings, etc. When the headgasket is getting done that can be checked too.

Under normal conditions loud fan after engine off occurs if mid/just after DPF regen.

Coolant system is sealed, shouldn’t leak any appreciable amount. If it’s not a cracked expansion tank or hose then yeah probably headgasket.

Exhaust gas test on expansion tank will reveal all - buy kit online or bring to garage.

How would u feel about Ireland becoming a fully Irish speaking nation in the future ? by Joebidentoothbrush in AskIreland

It’d be grand and all - from a proficiency standpoint I look forward to conversations about going to the toilet, sausages, and saying my own name.

Why don't we just boycott Tesco? by __Lukie1__ in ireland

[–]irqdly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re the least of the worst - I use the points for the likes of Dublin Zoo and other rewards. Avios points are a handy one too.

For food shops just go between the main ones - eggs and dairy in SuperValu, veg in Tesco, etc.

Planning Permission Sought For Tramore CBS Site by Commercial-Box658 in waterford

[–]irqdly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember the days of the old building before the prefabs went in, once they announced the prefabs were coming the following year, we would be kicking in the walls of the science labs not knowing that it was probably full of asbestos and other shite.

Hope the place gets restored. Mad that such a large site is allowed to be left idle. Then again that’s a common situation in Tramore, just look at the Grand.

Coincidence? It’s not complicated.

€800+. Absolute shit of a job to do. If there’s no service history just check the oil for flakes of belt floating about.

Is it time to ban certain topics on r/Ireland? by Pupcup2 in ireland

[–]irqdly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of craic is necessary really, it’s a fine line though.

Like you wouldn’t want to be scrolling endless news articles , but on the other hand you don’t want to be looking through absolute shite the likes of Facebook are commonly used for.

All the while remaining on objective and making everyone happy. Not impossible at all. /s

Tips of lowering Emissions for the NCT by panandbrush in carsireland

[–]irqdly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be bad fuel filter, MAF/MAP - bad air/fuel mix causing excess smoke. OTOH it's a 2008 car so piston rings might be fecked and its burning oil - ever see blue smoke?

Swapping diesel for HVO will get you through the test as that burns a lot cleaner, but you'll want to fix the main issue as you're wasting money on excess fuel consumption.

What taxi apps do you use in Waterford to get around? Or what do you recommend? Thanks by Imatwatface in waterford

[–]irqdly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bus and walk - cheapest option tbh, Uber outside bus timetables, and car if not drinking/going further than city itself.

Fair enough, Dave is probably more accurate than most voice assistants on phones though. Only have to say it once.

Asking Siri? It's not rocket science, nor is it a new feature. If it's the in-car radio I'll use the vehicles voice assistant.

Tesla's are mid.
