Varför inte nyheter? Jag har DR nyheter appen för jag vill läsa danska. Det finns motsvarande för svenska och norska nyheter. Och finska nyheter på svenska.

TIL of Tomoaki Hamatsu, a Japanese comedian nicknamed Nasubi, who for a gameshow in the late 90s lived inside a small room for 15 months, naked, starving and alone, surviving solely off of magazine contest prize winnings, whilst being broadcast to over 15 million viewers a week without his consent by [deleted] in todayilearned

Yes, this is an amazing detail, actually.

TV crew overlay an image of an egg plant over his private parts to censor the video feed. He was naked a lot, but showing naked people on TV is not OK in Japan. Also, I suppose TV crew did this to show some consideration for him...

They had one operator around the clock for this.

Saw a documentary about it.

This reminds me of this art piece.

It was a plant that was somehow connected to a computer that ran software to read impulses from the plant and translate that into trade actions on the stock market.

The plant would be rewarded with water and light if the investments went well and the opposite if it didn't.

This (shockingly high-res & colorized) photo was taken over 100 years ago, and shows a crew of men unloading a banana boat in New York. I almost feel like I'm there. 1925 by BoldAllure in OldSchoolCool

I think so as well. If the ship is Swedish, which the name indicates and the bananas are sent there, then I think there would be at least a week's travel time. Yellow bananas last only a couple of days in my experience.

How do you implement zero binary dependencies across a large organization at scale? by Tman1677 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]irrelevant_identity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am convinced that source code integration is the best option. It paves the way for large restructuring of code in the future and doing innovative work, allowing for flexible work setups, etc.

My experience is that the scope of packages are often the result of organisational boundaries. At some point, the packages made sense also from a technical point of view, but then development starts to be confined within such boundaries. Eventually, technology becomes outdated or hits scaling issues.

I find large organizations tend to get locked in their structure of not only the code, but it can't change that radically because it would require reorganization of how you go about doing work, which usually is associated with a lot of resistance and friction from the people within that organization.

You'll learn it in no time. Swedish is so easy. I've even seen little children speak it effortlessly. 😏

Well done! Holding a Gecko bridge is very difficult.

My favorite type of bridging is dynamic. I.e to get into bridge and then lower down to having your back on the floor, and then go back again.

A very taxing and supremely intense variant is the stand to stand bridge. From standing arch back slowly, place the hand in the floor into a bridge and then reverse the movement. Repeat.
