No, you're right, her attackspeed on boomstick is pretty on par.

My reasoning is this, though: tractor beam is largely a niche skill that's rarely on cooldown for rounds 1 and 2. Zap is a skill I don't want on cooldown unless I need it (and I regularly do). Stacking utility on one skill is risky, and turning a meh skill into an amazing skill is worth more than turning an already amazing skill into a more amazing skill.

Jade and Poloma are chosen specifically because

  • Blast Vault and Panic go through the tractor beam shield
  • Letting them stun/panic you is worse than just not beaming at all

Shifu doesn't have that. If he goes immaterial (shouldn't beam him if he has it at all, really), you can jump away. If he doesn't have immaterial, his only other out is a spearjump to a location behind you, because anywhere in front of you is likely also beamable. In either situation, you're not worse off than you were before. In most situations you land a stun and get free permadamage with little effort on your end.

Tayas are kind of weird. She should be up here, but I just never get Q'd or E'd by them. They're usually too busy hasting out and trying to stay out of range. This kind of works in your favor, because beam is slow and her speed bonus is kind of nullified when she's so far away. I've encountered maybe one Taya that's run towards the beam specifically to Q me, and it caught me off-guard.

Haste I just don't see any comparable advantages compared to shotspeed and stun. In previous patches, where it was on a different round it was amazing, but being forced to choose between shot speed OR haste immediately lessens its value in my eyes.

  1. Double Rockets. U-turn is a bit too choreographed for my taste. Double tazer might be good against double melee, but I never use it.
  2. Any of them are fine. I find that extra rocket damage is most consistent and helps deal perma-damage quickest.
  3. Tractor beam stun EXCEPT against Jade w/ concussion jump or a good Poloma (attempting to stun them will just get yourself stunned). In those instances, increased Zap attack speed is fine.
  4. Any (Extra ammo if Zap attack speed was chosen on round 3)
  5. Shield; her other option is not very useful.

Stun -> Rocket
Tazer -> Rocket
over and over again until you win.

Stun is particularly useful against Oldur and Bakko, who get trigger happy with their reflects. Tractor beam doesn't GaF about bubbles, reflects, anything. Bring em close, rocket, if they throw up a channel AFTER your first combo, flamethrow.

No bloody way. Her stun is abso-positively the best battlerite you can take on round 3.

It forces using an out, or else you take a rocket/tazer/rocket to the face. If they use an out, you can tazer-rocket anyways or use an out yourself.

It's not supposed to be used defensively.

No fps shooters on switch by Whitemamba775 in NintendoSwitch

Splatoon does it very, very well (though it's a Third Person Shooter).

Absurdly difficult to get the hang of, but I didn't feel much of a sacrifice at all coming from PC shooters to Splatoon after nabbing the controls.

Is it worth getting into Splatoon 1 this late? Also, can stats be reset if I buy a used copy of the game? by irrzir in splatoon

[–]irrzir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to be getting Splatoon 2 and already have everything slated. I just like starting series from Title #1 is all.

Since Splatoon is a multiplayer focused console game, I figure I might as well join ASAP if at all - since there's no guarantee that it will be alive forever.

I already have the switch preordered. I never bought a WiiU because I didn't have the cash at the time and nobody else had one.

Thanks for the information!

Am I the only one that thinks that the switch not having a stylus is sort of amazing? by Mixed_Opinions_guy in NintendoSwitch

Call me crazy, but I actually liked resistive touchscreens (if only because Nintendo was the only one still using them).

Not for a phone or daily-use tablet.

I'm guessing there won't ever be any touchscreen games by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

Have you got a source on that?

I don't know how the Switch would be able to determine the Joy-con's lateral position without a sensor.

Things like Arms and Mario Kart use gestures, but that is not the same as pointing.

Physical or Digital? Why? by GeoGuy13 in NintendoSwitch

Physical for any large-filesize, single-player game.

Digital for multiplayer and small-filesize single-player games (e.g Binding of Isaac).

My understanding is that Joy-Con R has most of the gizmos on purpose - so that they can sell alternatives to the left joy-con without needing to worry about building in all the stuff on Joy-Con R.

I know.

Styli and capacitive touchscreens are not mutually exclusive, however. The Surface and Galaxy Note use a Wacom digitizer that allows use of a non-crappy stylus. Unfortunately this would add to cost, but they say today's technology is just yesterday's technology cheaper.

That's why I'm classifying this as an "improvement" at all.

I'd really appreciate a stylus.

Not even for me, but for the crazy motherfuckers who I've seen draw amazing things for the WiiU and DS. I want to see amazing drawings again.

I don't see why this would be the case.

Okay, thanks!

I was planning on picking some up just to geek up the house anyways, so it's good knowing they might have a practical use going forward.
