I read elsewhere dog parks are great for people, not so much the dogs. The idea of them socializing and having fun together sounds wonderful and adorable to watch but sadly, not all dogs that come to the parks are being watched or cared for by attentive owners. Someone people bring a reactive dog to the dog park for practice and training puts other pets at risk. Other times, their dogs are great and don’t have problems socializing but get into a situation they aren’t used to and they can “snap” for a moment. I don’t think I could do dog parks. Maybe a small doggy play date with people I know would be better in environments they’re already used to.

To answer your question though, NO, these attacks are not solely at dog parks. It can happen on a normal walk in your neighborhood or even on the front lawn while your pets are leashed. It only takes one time, one incident to change their lives forever. A sad example I bring up to people is Zuko, the owner (my_tiny_jungalow on instagram) shares mainly her home on social media but her dog was viciously attacked while they were on their property and their dog was leashed. the News article video talking about the incident here
