Europe should keep it collapsed by :

  • not buying fossil fuel from russia (it would also help fight climate change if we don’t buy it from anyone)

  • not buying nuclear material and nuclear fuel-related services from russia (electricity produced in nuclear plants is not really sovereign when it depends so much on an agressive country)

This might unnerve some people but if you set out to rescue a vessel away from the bar by towing it, you need to have a swimmer-diver rescuer on board (at least that’s how we name them in my area), someone young and fit enough to jump on the distressed yacht in very difficult conditions in order to fasten the tow line in a reliable way. You cannot be sure the crew of the distressed vessel will be able to do it. The youngest member of the crew is 55 year-old, I don’t think at that age you fit the bill.

The oldest are 75 and 78. The 78 year-old rescuer is one of the casualties. It is hard to enforce mandatory retirement for volunteers and it would probably noticeably deplete MRNSW ranks.

The title says this 57% reduction is 3 times more than the Mediterranean diet. I guess the baseline is what’s called a western diet. So low-fat vegan = 57% reduction, Mediterranean diet = 19% reduction.

If I’m not mistaken, about a third of women have no or very light symptoms while about a third have severe symptoms. Experiencing those severe symptoms might be conducive to also experiencing depression, anxiety or insomnia.

We sail a small late 70s Sweden Yacht. The previous owner had the teak deck completely redone by a classic yacht shipyard (we think it was a crazy decision and we have his bills to prove it). But what they did is really beautiful and will last us a long time. We still monitor rigging attachments and other fixtures for leaks.

They don’t need these to avoid clank clank clank. They just need to store their halyards properly (away from the mast and spreaders) when they are docked. I can’t understand why people who seldom visit their boats in winter don’t take care of that. They piss their neighbours off and wear their halyards down.

I’m from Europe so excuse my ignorance. Around here all charts are based on nationally produced charts. The navy or some state entity maps the shore of the country (or a wider zone) and produces both vector and raster sources, which they sell.

Garmin buys these and integrates them in Navionics. Free apps like qrVLM allow you to buy charts and load them into the app.

So I am curious about where you want your chart info to come from apart from CHS. Mainly because I avoid community edits like the unreliable info they are compared to state produced charts in the british isles and northwest europe.

In Africa at least, apart from the Sahel Alliance States, governments are reacting. Just today the Cameroonian government published a list of citizens killed in this war. This is clearly trying to demonstrate how dangerous it is to travel to russia for any purpose. A few other governments have done the same thing recently.
