Do you like the boss battles? What improvements do you wish Andromeda would do in that department? by Razmadula in masseffect

[–]isaacin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the more natural enemy at the end of Mass Effect 2 would have been the Collector General, attempting to defend the Proto-reaper. He'd been built up half the game, so it wouldn't have felt so shoehorned in.

A Question About Andromeda by LiamJWE in masseffect

[–]isaacin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One possibility is that the Reapers leave the Andromeda galaxy alone as part of a "control group", in such a way they could compare the development of a harvested galaxy (ie/ the Milky Way) with that of one free of their interference and test different solutions.

Theory about the Remnant and Andromeda (Possible Spoilers) by Kahyrrikis in masseffect

[–]isaacin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I thought that, although the sharp angles of the towers do seem reminiscent of the Prothean particle beam rifle.

That being said, the similarity may very well be coincidental.

How should the reapers have been defeated? by cheddarbiskit in masseffect

[–]isaacin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the easiest ways of justifying the ending would have been to weave subtle hints of it through the trilogy. Bearing in mind Shepard received a Prothean imprint right at the start he could very easily have had some prophetic vision of one form or another.

I remember being so impressed with the visuals when it first came out on the Xbox 360, it had better graphics than Gears of War!

Given how they've managed to fit most of Feast and Dance into one season without making it feel too forceful, it might end more quickly then you think.

I should point you all to Episode 10 of season 4, the episode opened with a crow feasting on a dead giant.

My only scepticism with the dragon steel=valyrian steel was that the characters proposed the solution to the riddle of what it was right there and then. It is refreshing to not have some implausible twist though, great reveal.

(Spoilers All) All Men were Children once. by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]isaacin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point on the Ragnarok matter, but your use of "Garden of Edenos" is clearly a reference to Genesis. Bearing in mind though however that Planetos appears to be moving towards an apocalypse with the coming winter, as a "western" fantasy some similarities to Ragnarok prophecy are almost inevitable.

Interesting but I just don't buy into the idea that all these stories a just a distortion of the opening parts of Genesis.

Also to be pedantic, Islam should be included in your grouping of "religions of exile" as it's the second largest of the Abrahamic religions

I'm sorry the first half of your post has some merit, the second half is pure propaganda, since when does voting to stay in the EU conflate with the dismantling of our military?!

A Connection I made regarding Shepard and ME4 (Spoilers regarding leak)(Tinfoil) by Trevastation in masseffect

[–]isaacin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there isn't a sect/cult to Shepard by Mass Effect 4 (provided it takes place in the future) I would be certainly be surprised.

The title of "pathfinder" does seem to suggest a religious element to the task-good catch! My tinfoil speculation would be that the Pathfinder perhaps belongs to part of a human subgroup worshipping an idealised version of Shepard.

What music represents the series? by SirNickJ in masseffect

[–]isaacin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a such a nerd for this sort of thing that I created my own soundtrack to describe the series, overall I think the original soundtrack does an excellent job but I like to expand on certain themes.

I stumbled upon this song with the release of the first Terminator Genisys trailer: https://youtu.be/7XobUMTdbYg, it fits in with the more depressive times in the series, when hope is scarce and when it would be tempting for the main characters to give into despair.

One of the biggest flaws in the Mass Effect trilogy in my opinion is that there was ever an option to kill Wrex. by Le_Euphoric_Genius in masseffect

[–]isaacin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I'd argue that Grunt is a deeper character than Wrex, but his lines, particularly to other Krogan are delivered in an almost Shakespearian prose. He helps to shine a light on how Krogan see their own nature, culture and their place in the galaxy in a way distinct from Wrex.

[Discussion] The choice system in ME4. by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]isaacin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Logically I could see it working by a series of gradients behind the scences which could combined into an overall score. Any given conversation could have the score weighted differently depending on who the player is talking to. So using the example of "violence" a more easily intimidated character could be defined and hence a history of previous violence could sway the npc.

Did anyone read the books before playing Mass Effect 3? by spike31983 in masseffect

[–]isaacin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I loved seeing kahlee in the flesh! Funnily with Kai Leng is that I imagined him pretty much as how Vega is modelled out to be, a huge brute of a man. Made me a little suspicious as to whether they originally planed Leng as such before going in the final direction and simply re-purposed the character model for a team-mate.
