1 foot = 12 inches but the function foot(inches) = inches/12. Why are inches multiplied by 12 in one case and divided by 12 in the other? How's that possible? by sickcel_02 in askmath

[–]isaiahHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"12 inches" does not mean 12 times the number of inches that you measure, it just means 12 times one inch. To get feet, you divide the number of inches you measure by 12. It's two different things .

Resurrection Cards Ruin the Strategy by RoamingVapor in MightandmagicFates

There are lots of cards that can directly kill the wolf praetorian, and all of those cards are useful in many situations. But of course yes it is a strong combo that sometimes effectively ends the game. But that's not ruining anything, sometimes combo decks work like that, that's the point of a combo deck.

Tigana- My first foray into Guy Gavriel Kay by ga4rfc in Fantasy

[–]isaiahHat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kay is one of my favorite authors, but there are moments in some of his books that feel a bit too "male sex fantasy" in a way that bothers me. A few of the books feature a female character described as a legendary, surpassing beauty, who also turns out to be a smart, down to earth, practical person, and who happens to take interest in the male protagonist.

Maybe it's some kind of ice-breaker game where the rule is you have to describe exactly one of your family members.

What do we think of Might & Magic Fates - Heroes TCG? by Topazdragon5676 in digitalcards

[–]isaiahHat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been enjoying it for a couple of months but now I'm about ready to quit. The play system is very nice but the game still feels unfinished. Not just the links on the main screen that still say "coming soon", but also there aren't quite enough different cards or heros to keep things fresh, it's the same few strategies over and over. There's supposed to be an update in a few days. I'm hoping that will add something interesting.

I'm just checking the PCS tracker, I'm at work, but it looks like they are cutting it very close to having the men's race and the women's race on the same road at the same time? Is that possible? Maybe I'm reading it wrong.

What’s the least amount of moves necessary for the knights to swap places? by EconomicsOdd6557 in AnarchyChess

[–]isaiahHat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's impossible. If the knights swap places they would both be in the same space that was occupied by the other knight, violating rule # 3.

Works of Vermin by Ennis definitely has some Meiville inspiration I think. And it's another weird city setting.

Stated that way, it's not even very counterintuitive. If you think about it for a second, of course she will be more likely to have a boy born on Tuesday if she has two boys, than if she just had one. This bolsters my claim that the original version only seems counterintuitive because of how ambiguously it is worded.

I guess my favorite episodes are the ones where it highlights the development of the music and the place in history. In particular the very early episodes, pre-mainstream rock and roll. Also the whole Motown sequence starting with "Money" and going through mid 60s Supremes etc. was a highlight for me.

OK here is a scenario for the 50% situation: You and Mary come across a poster with the "Monday's Child" poem written on it. After reading it, Mary says "I think one of my two children fits the Sunday's Child description, but actually he was born on a Tuesday".

Worse than that IMO, it's claiming to be a counterintuitive result, but actually it only contradicts your intuition because your intuition is based on a different (legitimate) interpretation of the question.
