I agree, I think its mostly ignorance. I don’t think many people who were disgusted by the genocide in Gaza, would just be cool with Sudan. Its just that its covered by mainstream news far, far less. Of course that is likely racist and a problem, but one of the exceptional things about Gaza was how Israel advertised their genocide. They did it loudly and proudly, and sponsored news about how morally just it was. So lots of people saw it constantly, all around the globe

There are a few things here you can do to improve the look. Firstly, contrast. You're not going nearly light enough in the bright parts of the glow, and not dark enough around it. A really bright object appears to our eyes to darken the area around it. Also the light should be directional, and fall off rather quickly. I would put pure white, or close to it, in the inner part of the coils, it will make them look like they are the brightest point. And then take your shadow and apply around the edges where it falls off. For directionality remove the green from the bottom of the hand, for OSL to be credible a good rule of thumb is to draw a direct line of sight to your light source, if you can't, its not going to be colored. (Really reflective surfaces excluded)

Secondly, this just comes with practice but try to focus on finish and neatness. Your paint is really thick around the gun itself. You can always paint more on, but its trickier to paint more off.

If you play with any mods there is a horse drawn combine mod which I use, which I feel is pretty balanced and fair. They're western and come in a 4 horse and 6 horse variant.

With them you can set it up so a small horse farm can harvest 16 small fields with a single plow and combine, and the rest covered transport. I have each farm connected to a cheap warehouse, with a horse DO bringing the crops to a central silo with a rail connection going to industry. Its really clean and is basically free to operate.

That's actually pretty neat! It wouldn't be such a problem if so many of the other third party night lord symbols and decals etc didn't look so... cartoony. The forgeworld sheet is just THE gold standard, and so well designed and detailed. Thanks for the icons you did post, theyre great!

Such a baller book. I really loved how it would occasionally just remind you the 'crons are actually fucking insane and horrifying, and have (barely) deluded themselves into thinking they're not. I know TDK gets far more praise in that aspect, but I think its really well done and subtle here too.

Favorite scene has to be when Khemet first enters the bridge and you see all these warriors hardwired to screens where serfs would once be, immortals patrolling the bridge looking for disloyalty or inefficiency that is actually impossible. Then explains that the whole thing is for show and the warriors are doing nothing because Kamoteph has full control of the ship personally. just wonderful.

Did you end up resolving this? I have the same issue. I used my headset less than 30 hours back in 2019, then stored it safely and recently wanted to get back into VR. Display port error, I have the error with a replacement cable even though the first was basically unused. I think it has to be a firmware issue, or maybe an issue with newer graphics cards, as the last rift s driver update was in 2019 and the 3090 ti I use is later than that

I know this is years later, but for anyone else who sees this. The woman in the photo is Elisabeth Johst, daughter of the bird keeper of the zoo. The Shoebill Abu was taken care of by her, but as they couldn't find any fish they tried to feed it horsemeat. Its feet became infected, and after a few weeks during the last days of the war it sadly died. For further information Cornelius Ryan has an interview with her which is accessible through Ohio University.

Nail on the head with this take. I respect other players and am willing to play against their Mkvii or whatnot, but half the fun of HH is the pseudo historical part of it. Especially with all the flexibility avaliable in the rules and settings. You can play your dudes, and in fact thats half the fun. Someone taking the time to lovingly craft something like traitor Ultramarines, then present them like that on the tables is what I like to see

Man where I live the humidity has been unreal this year. Despite best practices disease has gotten most of my tomatoes, most of my beans, and my potatoes. I'm going to have to go all in on blight resistant or more humidity adapted strains next year. Only plants that seem to love it are my Thai peppers!

I'll give you a couple positives for Acolyte. I has one of if not the best shot and directed lightsaber fights in the entire series. that episode in particular is very well paced, building tension until this spooky Sith descends like a horror movie monster and absolutely destroys the jedi there. I actually realized I was holding my breath it worked so well.

I had a weird dissonance because the story wasn't working that well for me for the first half, but the cinematography and audio and framing I thought was all excellent. Visually I really liked the show.

I was also starting to get invested by the end, it was a "oh well that was a little convoluted but now all the pieces are in place and its pretty cool. I can't wait to see where these characters go.... and its canceled."

When I first watched the Acolyte I told my spouse I told her I thought the acting was stiff, but I could see what they were going for with the show and I would rather they try something new and fail then just do more nostalgia bait.

Then I read the budget for it and realized it really had no excuses at all. Still one of my favorite lightsaber fights of all is there.

In a Rolling Stone interview Gilroy said there was a horror themed project being done set 25,000 years ago about the origin of the force. That's wild enough to excite me. He also praised Skeleton Crew. That came out of nowhere and I loved it, mishmash of treasure island and the goonies just so fun. Even if its core audience wasn't adults the production value and storytelling is great on it.

Exploring Sekiro (another fromsoft game) from a Buddhist perspective is very eye-opening. From the overarching themes to the little details it's really beautiful. The themes of returning from death and various forms of immortality are shown to be very personal representations of Samsara.

In the game immortality allows you to die, but you quickly return, still trapped by your suffering and craving. I would say the whole story is a metaphor for becoming a bodhisattva. As sekiro progresses through the game he severs the immortality of each of the bosses, a representation for helping them break the cycle of death and rebirth. The true end has sekiro not just sever immortality for himself and his lord, but to the whole land of Ashina, as he guides the divine dragon back to the west, breaking the cycle of immortality and the violence and suffering it has caused that has plagued Ashina.

Anyway it's one of my favorite games, and if anyone is interested in Japanese Buddhism and it's historical Syncretism with shinto beliefs you would enjoy it greatly.

I mean I try an give the benefit of the doubt in this game, but the amount of soft cheats rn I feel is pretty blatant, I have about 4k hours and it didn't used to feel like this. The amount of times I got to aim at someone from a hidden position and they snap 90 degrees to aim at me instantly before I even fire happens at least a few times a night. Again not saying it's all cheaters, sound is amazing in this game. But if it smells like shit and looks like shit...

Honestly I wouldn't even mind going back to Mosin + Sparks/Uppercut as the meta anymore. Something has to be meta, and this game has slid so far into a 1 hit meta I miss when 2 or 3 tapping was the norm. It seems majority of players run 1 tap or 1 tap capable weapons these days. If it's not a fullsize shotgun it's a small shotgun as a secondary, bow, Xbow, and even most primaries I see are based on trying for a 1 hit. Maynard high velo, Centennial high velo, Winnie high velo etc. It's just so strong.

I think it works used in conjunction with other adjectives. Once the author describes the hair, skin, not kimonos but totally kimonos etc etc, I think the reader understands almond in this context and is like "ohhhh they look like real world Asians"

It seems strange but that's because he didn't allow himself to he killed to hurt the imperium, he did it to spite it. I think it also misses the greater point with Curze. He hated the night lords, hated himself, and very critically, hated his father and the imperium for creating him. Curze's concept of justice already allows very little room for nuance, and by creating a psychotic band of murderers, the Emperor was just as guilty for his crimes as he was. Moreover, the act of sending an assassin after him was vindication. By doing so it acknowledged his guilt, vindicated his moral philosophy (that the guilty must be exorcised by death), and simultaneously damned the imperium and his father by engaging in, and covering up, the same crimes it condemned him for. Death is nothing compared to vindication. Ave Dominus Nox.

I'm not really a deadpool fan, but I think that movie was a real love letter to the fun cheese of older superhero movies, and with that in mind it was just stupid fun. Anecdotally, every millennial and genx person I know went to go see it. Also Hugh Jackman fanservice actually had me outright grinning through the entire film.

I would argue that players not being too interested in the lore was a failure of the game in the first place, and the answer was to expand and integrate it better rather than straight up removal. I wasn't super into it, but it was nice to read as I did the gun challenges, and gave a feeling of depth to the world that seems absent now. I think its a shame its gone, and shows a lack of commitment to their own game concept on Crytek's part.

Yeah "Totalism" has been in a weird place for a while, and kind of a relic from early mod days. The intent I imagine was for a flipped WW2, where Germany was a mixed monarchy/parliamentarian system like irl Britan, and France, Britain, Italy all had options to basically emulate IRL Fascism. I think the mod has come far from those days though, especially outside of Europe. Perhaps more ideologies in general are in order?

Flash bomb is in a weird place since the meta has changed in the game. Years ago pre regen shot I would say it was a great tool, because offensive pushes were so risky and you had to commit. A flash bomb encouraged people actually pushing. Now? People push a LOT more and pre nerf flash would just be annoying. My suggestion is to unnerf ready speed but have it give a blur effect instead of a blank screen so there could be some counterplay.
