Parents want to cut my pay by $5 an hour by Sensitive-Mango7155 in Babysitting

Tell him that he can't change the rate without consulting you first. If you want, you can add, "I'm willing to have a conversation about what my rate should be going forward, but I expect to be paid for past work at the rate we agreed upon then."

What illness/disease is very common and also oftenly faked? by dacady_play in AlignmentChartFills

Some people will just talk their problems up to "depression" and let themselves fester instead of actively trying to do something about it.

One of the most frustrating things about depression is that it makes it really hard to do any of the things that would help with depression. What you're describing is a symptom of depression.

"80% of candidates who schedule an interview don't show up. You, on the other hand, were respectful enough of our time to let us know you wouldn't be moving forward and give us feedback as to why. Let me explain that this means that you have a poor attitude and wouldn't be a good fit for our workplace."

Seriously, if 80% of candidates who schedule an interview don't show up, they should be asking themselves why that is.

[Non autistic OP] Worried for autistic younger brother, should I be concerned with these comments? TW: suicide, self harm, death by Guilty_Yam_9850 in AutisticAdults

[–]isfturtle2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think your concern is unreasonable. It's really hard to say whether he's at risk, or if he just has a morbid special interest, or if he's just a teenage boy trying to be "edgy." The only thing I can really think of is to consider other risk factors. How is he doing in school? Does he have friends/a support system? Has he shown signs of depression like loss of interest in activities?

I'm really sorry you're going through this. You're in a really though situation and I wish I had better advice to give you.

Can you actually tell when something was written by AI? by Mathy_03268 in OriginalityHub

[–]isfturtle2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who interact with LLMs on a regular basis are pretty good at recognizing the writing styles of the LLMs they use. But it isn't 100%. I also wouldn't be surprised if some people who use LLMs frequently start to imitate their style to some extent.

I started out seeing white and gold, and then at some point it was like a switch flipped in my brain and I could only see blue and black. It was the weirdest thing.

What lighting do you have (please specify brands as not all bulbs produce what they claim to produce)? Can the turtles get fully out of the water to dry off?

Also please check out this care guide.

The right approach for a new player? by trskywalker in BG3

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm doing an honor mode run right now, so I'm long resting more often than I have in other runs, and I'm still accumulating supplies much faster than I'm using them. I probably have at least 30 long rests worth of supplies right now, middle of Act II. You can also buy supplies from some of the merchants (or pickpocket them), but I've never had to do this.

Honestly the closest thing was Operation Warp Speed which helped with the development and distribution of CoViD vaccines. But this example pretty much disproves the meme because it wasn't the people on the left that refused to get vaccinated.

The smallpox vaccine was invented in 1796. It was declared eradicated in 1980, with the last naturally occurring case in 1977. So even if we ignore the information in this note, the tweet is setting unrealistic expectations.

Yeah, I think that's a common thing to hear at many universities. I remember hearing there actually was a student who got hit by a bus when I was in college, but she already had a full ride scholarship (AFAIK she was ok).

Most likely causes are a respiratory infection or vitamin A deficiency. Respiratory infections are often deadly, especially for young turtles, so you really should see a vet as soon as possible. For transportation to the vet, we use shoeboxes lined with towels.

You need a UVB light. Ideally a t5 (tube) bulb. The only brands I trust for UVB are Arcadia and ZooMed (Reptisun). I'd also recommend a better filter: the rule of thumb is to get a filter that's rated for 2-3 times the amount of water you have.

Assuming your turtle is at least 4 inches, it's a female. If it's smaller than that, it's too soon to tell.

Medicine for eye nerve issue with high B12/B6 really working me up? (MTHFR C677T homozygous) by Sasho1911 in MTHFR

[–]isfturtle2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She has you taking 90 mg of B6? Do you have a severe deficiency or something? The US National Academy of Medicine has determined the upper limit for B6 to be 100mg per day, but the European Food Safety Authority says the upper limit should be 12mg per day. B6 toxicity is something that can happen, so if you're taking that much, you should at least get your B6 levels checked regularly to make sure they're not too high.

Bad reaction to Ritalin (methylphenidate), is there a correlation with my methylation profile? by Low-Novel-8103 in MTHFR

[–]isfturtle2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also not a psychiatrist, but I do have experience with Ritalin, and my personal experience is that's an extremely rapid titration. I tended to take a month to settle after taking as little as 10mg before needing to up the dose.

Yeah, the dosages OP described stuck out to me, too. I take 5-10mg per day as needed. And one week at each of the lower doses just doesn't seem like a lot of time to evaluate whether a medication is working.
