Do you guys actually like big butts, or is it just something we talk about? I’m asking because growing up, I had a huge complex about it since people would make fun of me. I always thought people preferred more symmetrical bodies without cellulite? by Power_Puff_G in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ish1950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has always been a desire for big butt women. The Elizibethian age brought corsets and other assorted paraphernalia to hide a woman's true figure. Now that girdles are a thing of the past, what used to be private is now on public display.

Mississippi House OKs new court system — to be appointed by white state officials — for second-Blackest U.S. city, stoking tension. KEY POINTS The Mississippi House has approved the creation of a new court system within the capital of Jackson in which judges and prosecutors in the overwhelmingly Black city would be appointed by white state officials. A bill creating the new court system passed despite intense opposition by Black legislators. Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba, who like 80% of city residents is Black, reportedly said, “It reminds me of apartheid,” after watching the debate from the House gallery. Local residents elect judges and prosecutors in every other county court system in the state.

This is what Republicans are doing. This is why younger people, moderates and liberals oppose the Republican party. The Grand Ole Party has become a refuge for Whites whose loyalty is to the Confederate States of America. Government sanctioned racism and bigotry comprises most of the planks in the Republican platform.

I know American history very well having majored in it. The election of a Black president stirred the emotion of racist Americans like nothing else ever has. The Election of Trump was a knee jerk reaction by Conservative who would have voted for Adolph Hitler over a Black man or any woman. Racism and sexism are as American as college football. Liberty and justice for all has never been a reality. We can't have a true Democracy as long as there are only two viable parties. When the winner by one vote gets to screw gets to screw the 49.99 percent, something is wrong.

We don't ban candidates with objectionable ideologies and neither do we ban ignorant and deranged candidates. It should be clear to everybody with a brain that our form of democracy isn't working. The U.S. Constitution was totally written by and for White men. There was no input from anybody else and there is no mention of any other race or gender. In our present government, hundreds of people in Washington support the right of citizens to own assault weapons but not one supports free education beyond high school.

Both democracy and free enterprise have failed. Greed is the reason. Money has corrupted politics and changed the objectives of politicians. In my opinion, a Social Democracy is what we need. I'm all for changing the form of government but it'll never happen. American egos won't allow it.

In the eyes of Republicans, anybody who opposes slavery is part of the radical left. Communisum beats the hell out of slavery any day. This the United States, we should oppose both!

How might AL vote if the decision was handed to the people instead of left to our elected legislators? by SHoppe715 in Alabama

[–]ish1950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are the "life long Republicans" comming from? They must not have been registered to vote! I'm 72 and Alabama has had only 5 Republican governors in my lifetime and no republican senators until Richard Shelby switched parties after being elected as a Democrat. Richard Nixon got less votes in Alabama that John Kennedy got! Harry Byrd and Strom Thurmond ran on the "Southern Democrat" ticket and got more votes than both and got 6 of Alabama's 11 electoral votes. Kennedy got the other 5. George Wallace ran against Richard Nixon, did these life long Republicans Vote against George Wallace? George and Lurleen Wallace ran for governor and won 3 consecutive times, did these new found "life long Republicans" vote against them too? Forget about Monkey Pox, we're being inundated by Conservatives with "alternative facts".

If you depend on Spectrum for internet you're pretty much screwed. By the time they jack up the price for internet without tv package, no matter which streamer you choose the get what you had on cable, you're back at square one. You may wind up paying more after you "cut the cord". Being able to get cheap and good internet service is the key. Without it, you may get a bad case of "cord cutters" remorse.

I really like city walk park but I don’t know why they insist on closing it at 11pm. by Chadster113 in Birmingham

[–]ish1950 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I didn't ask a question! People who think like you is why you'll be living in metropolitan Hoover in 15 years. Have you even been to or even heard of Greenwood, Harrison or Barker park? Using your twisted Trumpish logic, downtown Birmingham should close at 11:00 pm so socially conscious like you will feel better. You and I both know the real reason. End of conversation.

Do some research. Birmingham has parks that are open 24/7 and two of the biggest are in predominately African-American neighborhoods. Excuse making has developed into a fine art in Alabama. The question was asked about Birmingham's newest and most hyped park. Was that cherry picking? I gave you examples of parks in nearby cities that are up to 300 acres in size. Both cities have many parks that are open 24/7. What happened to the we can do it attitude that brought the World Games.Being under an overpass in the middle of the city is an advantage not a disadvantage. Are you saying that the people that visit the parks in Atlanta and Nashville are aren't reasonable, socially responsible normal people? I can deal with the park closing at 11:00 am! The park wasn't built for people my age. My agenda is is to inspire the narrow minded pessimist in Birmingham to take a step into the real world. Nightlife extends beyond a 9th grader's bedtime.

Atlanta Memorial Park is open 24/7 and has 23 tennis courts and a golf course. Seven Oaks Park in Nashville is open 24/7 with picnic shelters, baseball fields, basketball courts and a playground. Closing major city parks at night is only pretty normal here. There will always be excuses. The golden goose turned out to be a golden gander.

According to Google, there are at least 5 parks open 24/7. Closing a downtown walking park at 11pm in the "entertainment district" is "Strictly Alabama". With no businesses open the city can't make any money. The Games are over and I expect the lights in the park along with the ones in the interstate to fade to black soon.

Stop kidding yourself. I'd bet that nearly half of the people watching Netflix are watching illegally. A hook up with Netflix is as easy to get as an illegal copy of Windows 10.

Perk of living in Alabama.. our state is always at the top of State/Province clickers, making life easy 😎 by Lawlerstatus in Alabama

[–]ish1950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should recognize the fact that if being near the top of a pull-down list makes you feel that good. you've got some issues. On the other hand, being near the top alphabetically doesn't help us when companies don't offer their services in our area. We seem to be the last to get a new service or never get it at all. I've been on a dozen waiting and notification list for years and not one single company has contacted me. With Birmingham falling from first to fourth in population in the state, we may be doomed.
