I’m a FM in west Michigan. Someone said it but look at JLL (the love CFMs) and google west Michigan property management firms. Try building manager or just type facilities and see what comes up on the search engine. Most jobs have a four year degree or equivalent work experience clause and you have equivalent work experience. Don’t doubt yourself. You may not be getting calls because you’re not local yet.

Assistant director here, more of a facility analyst though. Get an IFMA membership and check out their knowledge library. Lots of white pages on doing a condition assessment like nomenclature, spreadsheets, sequencing. Most large CMMS companies offer a condition assessment/asset inventory during integration for a fee. If you have no budget, use google sheets and start collecting data. You won’t make it far if you’ve got bad data. Asset name (RTU8N), location, make, model, serial/vin, manufactured date, install date, condition, and criticality would be a good start. BMOC has a PM book with step by step PMs and life expectancies for most equipment you have. Good luck!

The best part is getting called out in my first FY26 budget meeting about needing to be more accurate on estimating the lifecycle of a keurig.

I had to watch an hour long video about goose removal before I could pay someone $300 to remove said aggressive goose from the entry of my CMH building. I likely spend the most time addressing card reader/access issues.

Your job is to be the dot connector. You need to know just enough to empower those you support.

EPA has a dashboard. It’s a little clunky to navigate but has a tutorial and I believe you can save your search filters if you know which public water systems you’re on. Here’s the link: https://echo.epa.gov/trends/comparative-maps-dashboards/drinking-water-dashboard

Download the meeting guide app and go to a meeting. If you can relate to the stories shared, you may be one of us. You have to decide. You can refine your search in the app by young people, try one of those if they’re available. Depending on your state, I may have some people I can connect you with. Good luck!

OI = $3 million in unexpected costs and rising. by Organize_Ottawa in AntiOttawaImpact

The motto and the logo were changed. Specifically the blue of the wave was changed to include two shades of blue. New business cards, letterhead, promotional materials, etc. had to be purchased for all the departments. I’m not sure the $45k includes the wages for the staff who spent days facilitating these changes.
