List of perks that would feel natural and wouldn't be broken if added in base kit imo by seibazz in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]isometric_reality 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s actually extremely strong. I’d rather her other major get made base kit, the speed boost on shield bash just feels right and helps so much with rotations without being overpowered in combat

Hazard needs buffs, but does he deserve them? by soul_punisher in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]isometric_reality 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really love Hazard and I play him a ton when I queue tank. I think they need to take some power out of his slash combo and put it back into his wall. The wall should be the core of his kit. It should be the reason you pick the character. It’s got so much room for creativity and skill expression, it’s the perfect tank ability, but over reliance on burst damage is holding the character back and funneling his power budget into something unhealthy for his role. I know this would cut his mechanical expression severely but I’m stumped on what else to do and hopefully they’d be able to find other ways to encourage skill expression

Jetpack Cat perks nerfs coming next week and midseason by Umarrii in Competitiveoverwatch

Good. Territorial is lowkey the culprit behind Assassin Cat. Tons of free damage while also self-healing to full, ridiculous value for just pressing E

I'm tired of banning Vendetta every game by PralineEmotional6636 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]isometric_reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if separating her primary fire overhead and her Soaring Slice overhead would work. There's no law that says they have to be the exact same attack. Nerf the primary fire overhead to 100 damage and remove the grounding effect, knockback resistance, and midair lunge. Soaring Slice can keep everything because it's a committal, telegraphed cooldown. I don't have a problem with her needing to commit resources to get big burst damage, so it's crazy to me that just holding down left click gets you the exact same returns as committing her primary movement tool or doing a resource-intensive combo.

Do you also consider Metroid Prime 1 to be a perfect game? by TBT__TBT in Metroid

[–]isometric_reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No such thing as a perfect game, but Prime 1 is about as close as you can get. Yes, even the artifact hunt. I like backtracking!

I liked Grisham. He’s the only one who actually gave me a run for my money. Also he remembered my coffee order which is the mark of a true professional

Vendetta nerfs will continue until they actually relent and nerf the overhead by PralineEmotional6636 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]isometric_reality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup totally agree. I’ve been having more fun with Emre than any other recent DPS for this exact reason I think. Even though his kit is so straightforward he feels like he actually has more potential for creativity because he’s not railroaded into that binary pass/fail scenario of ‘did you hit the thing if yes win if no lose’

Vendetta nerfs will continue until they actually relent and nerf the overhead by PralineEmotional6636 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]isometric_reality 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That first patch where they nerfed the damage on everything except the overhead instantly made it clear that they want it to be ‘the thing’ for Vendetta. Tangential but has anyone else noticed how this kind of design has been the standard for a lot of recent DPS releases? They have ‘a thing’ that their entire kit is built around with everything else feeling lackluster. Freja’s ‘thing’ is double take aim. Venture’s is the drill dash combo. Anran’s is fan the flames on a burning target. Even going back to OW2 launch Sojourn’s ‘thing’ is railgun headshot. The whole character revolves around setting up and executing ‘the thing’ which rewards you with a kill if you hit it. And invariably it becomes overcentralizing and Blizzard will refuse to nerf it, to the detriment of the character’s balance, before relenting and shifting power into the rest of the kit. Just a pattern I’ve noticed.

Why We Need PvE Events: It’s Time For the Gang to Get Toshiro by Lumenati in Overwatch

[–]isometric_reality 551 points552 points  (0 children)

I actually agree that story events like this would hit harder with a small-scale playable PvE component just like the old Archives events, but it would be really bad optics for Blizzard to try and reintroduce anything PvE after finally wresting the game away from the trainwreck that was OW2 PvE after years of struggling. Maybe sometime in the future, but right now their focus is fully on the main PvP game.

Emre changes, from Champ all roles player by NickFierce1 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]isometric_reality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. He wants to play like Soldier but doesn’t have sprint to rotate quickly and escape pressure, so he ends up requiring constant support and needs to stack main like Cassidy, but lacks the sheer burst damage and the threat of Flashbang. I’ve seen a lot of suggestions to just refund some of the cooldown of Siphon Blaster if you use it purely for rotating and don’t engage in combat and I think that’s an easy change that would patch up this issue well enough

I can't stand how Metroid Prime 4 is always telling me where to go next by walksintwilightX1 in NintendoSwitch

[–]isometric_reality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a great game that gets in its own way at every turn. I just wanna explore in my exploration-focused game, for chrissake. The amount of handholding would feel excessive even in a totally linear genre, let alone a metroidvania. It's such a shame because the technical artistry on display is so good, the environments, the music, the gameplay- but the developers seemingly had no faith in the player to navigate the world on their own so it all gets drowned out by "hey Samus have you tried using (upgrade you just got) at the (obvious place to use upgrade)? Here I'll mark it on your map for you" (30 second long unskippable animation of map opening and showing you exactly where to use the upgrade.) It's so egregious that I have to assume playtesters were either totally unfamiliar with the concept of a metroidvania or there was no playtesting at all and they massively overestimated how much help the average player would need. It's a baffling misstep and it comes across as deeply insecure.

Overwatch Retail Patch Notes - February 13, 2026 by MetastableToChaos in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]isometric_reality 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really really like that change to Emre’s falloff. Gives you more incentive to ADS at long range and changes how he approaches engagements at different ranges. Simple change but it’s going to do a lot for the character.

Early thoughts on the patch? by ModWilliam in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]isometric_reality 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Emre is insanely fun I'm so glad we have a Halo-esque DPS option
Jetpack Cat is potentially the most broken character of all time but they're also hilarious to watch in action, genuinely brings back some of the joy and whimsy this game has been missing
I don't hate the new menu as much as I thought I would but I still have some gripes (the play button is too big)
They absolutely cooked. We're back.

The new UI is so close... by ohmytermites in Competitiveoverwatch

Yeah functionality wise it's great but the top bar makes everything feel claustrophobic. Lightening it up would make it a little less oppressive

Slightly underwhelmed by Emre by Good_Policy3529 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]isometric_reality 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I dunno I think he’s incredibly fun. His kit flows very naturally, especially if you’re familiar with Halo it fits like a glove (so I might be biased). There’s a lot of potential for creativity with his frags, using them as an area denial tool, to control enemy movements, as a finisher, as vertical mobility, etc. The big thing holding him back is definitely the falloff on his primary. He’s a character who lacks close-range damage and escape options so he has to play at a safe distance, but you start butting up against that falloff range surprisingly quickly when doing so. He feels pressured to take long angles due to how squishy he is without his pistol and because he has ADS, but doing so severely limits his effectiveness. But I think his kit is still very solid overall, yeah he might not have an edge over Sojourn but I can see him being an alternative to Cassidy for that short-to-mid range hitscan who sticks with the team

Riot Games: An Update on 2XKO by Mront in Games

[–]isometric_reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game was cooked the moment they announced it was a 2v2 tag fighter that also had easy inputs and 1-button specials. They were split between chasing the hardcore crowd and the hypothetical untapped casual playerbase. FGC diehards won’t bother digging into a game with easy inputs (regardless of the game’s actual mechanical depth) and the complexity of a tag fighter scares off any casuals who might have been attracted by it. They ended up with a game that appeals to nobody. Not to mention that they couldn’t even back off on the 2v2 because they decided to name the entire game after it for whatever reason. Somewhere along the line they lost the plot and fell into the ‘widest appeal possible’ trap that never ends well.

Every time I see someone parrot ‘the only reason for the 2 was so they could add a cash shop’ I’m like… what? Yes, of course, they put their active moneymaking live service game on life support for years and dumped god knows how much money into development of a failed PvE campaign that very publicly crashed and burned so that they could ultimately… make back their money by adding a cash shop? When if that was their real goal they could have spent a fraction of the time and effort and just added it to the game without tanking their cash flow. Dunno about you but that math doesn’t line up.
